The role will be based in Hong Kong and will be focused on the Equities business of the Global Markets Division .
OUR IMPACT The Global Markets Division in Asia (ex-Japan) includes the sales and trading businesses (including cash equities, listed options, equity derivatives, prime services, futures and facilitation) (ie Equities), fixed income, currencies and commodities (FICC), and Private Investor Products Group (including retail and wholesale structured products).
This role will include providing advice and assistance to our traders and sales people on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters across Equities. Key responsibilities include the following:
Providing legal advice to the Equities business, support for our regional Equities business and assist on related agreements and other documentation;
Specific focus on Equities Sales and Trading, Market Access and Equity Derivatives,
General focus on all other Equities businesses - the derivatives components of the Equities business - SPG and Equity Derivative s , as well as listed derivatives like options and futures and ETFs
Advising on regulatory matters impacting the Equities business (including global and local regulations);
Preparing, maintaining and updating precedent legal documentation and agreements to incorporate changes in applicable law and regulations, Goldman Sachs offshore policy or changes in market practice;
Working with the Global Markets Compliance team on regulatory matters and investigations. There may also be opportunities to become involved in training and policy work, including representing the firm in discussions with industry bodies;
Assisting in the preparation of materials for submission to regional and global committees; and
Liaising with Legal and Compliance personnel at Goldman Sachs locally, regionally and globally on issues relating to the Global Markets Division.
The role requires the ability to work independently and to manage a diverse and complex workload meeting tight deadlines. QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified derivative s, finance or financial regulatory lawyers with minimum 4 years PQE;
Relevant post-qualification experience either with a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel;
An ability to demonstrate a strong grounding in securities or financial law and regulation;
Working knowledge of regulatory developments impacting the markets in Asia will also be an advantage.
