Job Summary:
The Associate Vice President for Facilities and Real Estate Development (AVPF&RED) is the senior University facilities staff member reporting to the Vice President for Facilities and Auxiliary Services (VPF&AS). Through the University's outsourced contractor, the incumbent directly manages planning, implementation and administration of the care and upkeep of all existing physical facilities at the University's New Jersey campuses within available resources. Manages real estate development, acquisition, and disposition in accordance with an established master plan. Plans, manages and implements capital projects as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Facilities and Auxiliary Services.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, real estate management or closely related discipline required. PE, MBA or other related degree preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years budgetary experience including the ability to effectively read, understand, and analyze budgets, preferably in an institution of higher education or commercial real estate.
3. Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with contractors, all levels of management, as well as all segments of the University community.
5. Ability to read, understand, and abstract contract terms and conditions as well as to maintain a contract data system.
6. Ability to read, understand, conform, analyze and summarize complex data to use for data driven decisions.
7. Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications as well as manage work to conform to same.
8. Ability to use Microsoft Excel to deliver data-driven decisions and recommendations required. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook required. Knowledge of other Microsoft Office products and other applicable, standard, University applications preferred.
9. Valid driver's license and accessibility to a reliable vehicle for required travel to and between the Metropolitan and Florham campuses preferred. Ability to report to and, as necessary, travel between the Metropolitan and Florham campuses, as well as other University sites and campuses required.
10. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
