The Morgan Stanley (www.morganstanley.com) Market Data Support Team is part of the real-time marketdata (RTMD) production management group, which is responsible for support, and maintenance of the core marketdata platforms. The team is integral to this group supporting our distribution system, which is used to supply real-time data to our clients. The direct exchange feeds, vendor feeds and in-house feeds which make up the inputs to this system are also supported by this team. Core role activities â?¢ Working alongside the existing team members on a shift basis. â?¢ Monitoring and outage management daily. â?¢ Ready For Business (RFB) cover and check outs. â?¢ End of Day cover and check outs. â?¢ Manage the rtmd hotline. â?¢ Project management in relation to system upgrades and expansion where necessary â?¢ Fault finding based on problem tickets and direct escalation from users and other IT groups. â?¢ Working with feed integration teams within marketdata to facilitate checkouts of changes made by these groups. â?¢ Weekend Checks and RFB â?¢ Provide on call cover as required. â?¢ Maintain monitoring processes to be used globally. â?¢ Liaise with Vendors and Exchanges in relation to data and feed issues. â?¢ Manage or participate in the implementation and rollout of new services and products. â?¢ Perform software decommission, installation, upgrades in accordance with Morgan Stanley's Change Control Procedures. â?¢ Support global Market Data teams as part of a follow the sun" support model. â?¢ Act as an escalation point for ASG (application support groups) support teams. â?¢ Provide validation service for the implementation and rollout of new services. â?¢ Document, implement and adhere to operational and technical standards, best practices, processes, and procedures (problem/change/release/request management/service/time reporting) â?¢ Understand and apply contractual and operational requirements. â?¢ Assist with identifying and implementing areas for improvement within existing operational and technical processes and maintain related documentation. â?¢ Log Incident Tickets and Problem tickets to manage incidents and follow-ups to completion. â?¢ Manage Jira based tasks thru Kanban Board (scripting / monitoring / tool support and other non-incident work) â?¢ Manage and participate in Firm DR (Disaster recovery) Testing on behalf of RTMD.
Skill sets (it's a production management role so general skills for production RPE support is needed - some key skills below) â?¢ Good understanding of Linux operating platforms and commands â?¢ Unix shell scripting skills. â?¢ Perl / Python programming â?¢ Knowledge of Unix surveillance and troubleshooting tools and file search facilities (grep, awk). â?¢ Familiarity with Unix system administration and security â?¢ Experience with Network and real-time messaging technologies â?¢ Multicast, TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP â?¢ Good network diagnostic skills â?¢ Exposure to incident management in an IT environment
Additional useful skills: â?¢ Understanding of market data categories, e.g., Equities, options, futures, mutual funds, fixed income, etc. â?¢ Understanding of market data concepts, e.g., Quotes, level 1 quote and level 2 quote differences, basic structure of an order book, different types of markets, etc â?¢ Experience with market data content from various vendor providers, e.g., Reuters, Bloomberg, etc.
