Who we are looking for: State Street Bank and Trust Company, Sydney branch, is seeking to hire a Treasury Funding dealer and Junior Portfolio Manager to provide support to the Sydney branch Treasurer in managing the Sydney balance sheet.
The major responsibilities include:
Managing liquidity and funding requirements of the Sydney branch. This includes day to day management of currency positions and liquid assets to support the branch's liquidity requirements. Daily activities include trading and position management of the AUD liquids portfolio utilizing the currency swap market, money markets, repo market, interbank funding markets and internal loans and deposits.
Junior Portfolio Manager for State Street Sydney Branch. Providing research, portfolio construction and trade execution support in the management of the branch's longer term Investment Portfolio (rates and credit), working in tandem with Portfolio Managers globally to ensure seamless delivery of strategic initiatives.
Working with the credit analyst team to ensure credit quality and 4 eyes principle for credit investments.
Monitoring and evaluating local market conditions in the context of global market conditions and communicating relevant information to senior portfolio managers and senior management as necessary.
Monitoring and managing the balance sheet and liquidity to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and State Street's overall balance sheet objectives.
Managing and monitoring compliance with internal liquidity risk limits
Other responsibilities include:
Managing liquidity and funding requirements of Hong Kong and Singapore branch as required, providing coverage support for Global Treasury APAC region as a whole.
Developing and maintaining relationships with local senior management, various internal stakeholders and as well as developing banking/broker/dealer relationships with the wider financial community to support funding and Investment Portfolio activities.
Participating and contributing in projects related to Global Treasury initiatives
Taking end-to-end ownership in undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned subject to changing business needs
Taking leadership and provide leave coverage for Sydney branch treasurer as a delegate undertaking additional responsibilities.
Candidates should have the following characteristics:
Excellent analytical skills and knowledge of financial markets
Demonstrate high flexibility towards undertaking additional responsibilities as required to contribute to team's success
Detail-oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced, unstructured environment
Excellent excel spreadsheet skills (coding skills are an additional benefit)
Capacity to learn new technologies/systems.
Professionalism, dependability, integrity
Education & Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics or in a related field
Four years' experience in banking and financial services. Experience in a trading floor environment would be an additional benefit (not essential).
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with people at various levels of the organisation
