We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Managing Counsel to manage our FX & Derivatives Legal team. This role is hybrid in-office and is located in Pittsburgh, PA OR Lake Mary, FL
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Manage the team of attorneys supporting FX & Derivatives businesses, including Programmatic FX trading (such as custody FX services, automated FX trading, prime brokerage, electronic and algorithmic trading, and payments) and Swap Dealer and Securities-Based Swap Dealer businesses relating to FX, interest rate and equity derivative products.
Act as a primary resource for FX & Derivatives legal team members, driving practical, commercial advisory solutions.
Build effective relationships with business partners the leaders of our service partners such as Compliance, Credit, Risk and Operations.
Advise on CFTC, SEC, NFA, Fed and other regulator examinations, remediations and, when necessary, enforcement actions.
Advise on new markets, new product and service development, and strategic business initiatives.
Monitor, interpret and communicate on proposed regulations and their application to the Bank's OTC trading businesses.
Oversee the retention of outside counsel and manage related budgets for the FX & Derivatives legal team.
Maintaining an understanding of global regulatory issues impacting the bank's OTC trading businesses through engagement with US, APAC and EMEA colleagues.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
Law degree (J.D.) and licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania or Florida (or states with reciprocity such as NY)
Minimum 12 years+ of relevant experience at a law firm and/or large financial institution dealing with FX and derivatives (including OTC instruments, futures, etc.)
Experience with Dodd-Frank Act, the Commodity Exchange Act, the Securities Act of 1933, relevant CFTC and SEC regulations and NFA rules is required; as well as experience with ISDA Master Agreements, CSAs, ISDA Protocols and other industry standard trading agreements.
Experience in appropriately balancing commercial flexibility and legal risk management.
Prior management experience highly desirable.
