Overview
The Tax Advisory team within Group Tax Americas, which supports Deutsche Bank's business in the Americas Region, is seeking a tax professional with experience in U.S. federal and cross-border tax matters, particularly with respect to financial institutions and a global asset management business (including alternative asset fund formation). The Team's work ranges from advising on the tax consequences of transactions, ensuring compliance with local tax obligations, producing tax data for financial and other reporting purposes, assisting with tax audits and disputes, to working with industry groups and governmental agencies on the development of legislation and practice. You will work on diverse international and corporate tax issues pertinent to financial institutions (with a focus on asset management and fund formation), as well as product development and review. You will work in all phases of projects & transactions, including development, analytics, documentation, drafting and execution.

What You'll Do
Evaluate US federal and international tax issues and opportunities presented by complex business products and transactions, with a focus on asset management and fund formation
Review, advise on and approve new products and transactions from a US tax perspective, including ensuring that alternative asset funds are structured appropriately for different types of investors (US taxable, tax-exempt, and non-US), as well as for co-invest and carry structures; ensure consistency across funds
Work as a business partner and interface with members of responsible business units and their finance staff, including US tax planning, research, and advisory support, addressing concerns of investors during side-letter negotiations, reviewing tax language in legal documents, and advising on tax aspects of fund restructurings, wind-downs, internal corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic investments
Evaluate US federal and international tax issues and opportunities presented by complex business products and transactions, including top-side fund structuring, US corporate consolidated groups, partnership taxation, REIT/RIC taxation, FIRPTA, PFICs, reportable transactions and core transfer pricing concepts
Manage and assist in tax planning opportunities (development and implementation) optimizing after-tax returns, including evaluating the impact of new legislation and tax pronouncements and implement requirements appropriately
Assist Tax Accounting, Compliance and Controversy teams
How You'll Lead
Assist in the development and approval of internal initiatives and projects, engage with members of the front office, as well as other Group Tax members in reporting, compliance, and members of the management team
Engage with industry peers and policymakers through industry forums, and interface and manage external tax resources
Participate in projects/transactions/initiatives involving capital markets and financial products
Skills You'll Need
JD a must, LL.M. preferred
Moderate relevant experience
Asset management and/or investment bank client base, related in-house experience, or combination of both preferred
An understanding of tax accounting rules, effective tax rate and deferred tax concepts
Undergraduate degree in accounting or CPA status is a plus

Expectations
It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York, NY office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $170,000 to $280,500. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
