Team / division overview
The Risk platform is the independent risk oversight function of DWS, with sustainability risk playing a pivotal role in driving the commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. The team leads sustainability risk management efforts, ensuring that ESG considerations are integrated into strategic decision-making and risk management processes.
The role will evaluate firm wide risks on an aggregate basis and to align this across the firm, formalizing the firm's Sustainability Risk Policy and Risk Appetite Statement, and be instrumental in developing, maintaining, and advancing the Sustainability Risk Management Framework.
Role Details
As a Head of Sustainability Risk, you will:
Continue to develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability risk management strategy that aligns with the company's goals and values
Identify, assess, and prioritize sustainability risks across the organization, including climate change, resource scarcity, social impact, regulatory changes and more
Collaborate with various risk leads and cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability risk considerations into risk management types, business operations, supply chain management, product development, and investment decisions
Conduct regular sustainability risk assessments, evaluating potential impacts on financial performance, reputation, and long-term viability
Stay current on emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices to proactively address evolving risks and opportunities
Lead the design and implementation of effective risk mitigation measures, controls, and monitoring mechanisms
Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employees' understanding of sustainability risks and their role in managing them
Manage and coach a team of sustainability risk resources
Produce regular reports and presentations for executive leadership and stakeholders, highlighting key sustainability risk insights and recommendations
Engage with external partners, industry associations, and experts to stay informed about sustainability risk developments and share knowledge
Collaborate with communications teams to ensure transparent and effective communication of the company's sustainability risk management efforts to internal and external stakeholders
We are looking for
Extensive experience in risk management, sustainability risk, ESG, or related roles across the financial services sector
Strong understanding of sustainability trends, regulations, and industry best practices and developing these into risk policy and appetite statements and risk frameworks
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and assess complex sustainability risks
Proven track record of developing and implementing effective risk management strategies
Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams
Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage and analyse large amounts of data and execute against tight deadlines
German language a strong plus; excellent writing and communication skills
Educated to degree level in a financial related discipline or with relevant professional experience
