The EC Digital Tech & Communications Global Technology Subsector Head is responsible for directly originating and managing Citi's coverage and expansion efforts for corporate clients within this subsector that are headquartered in the United States and generate revenues from $10MM to $100MM+. This role will primarily cover non-sponsor backed clients and require the person to lead and manage integrated sales and relationship programs, drive client-centric solutions to differentiate Citi in the marketplace, and achieve substantial growth targets for the business. The Digital Tech & Comms Industry is expected to be a key component of the expected growth of the Commercial Bank with a corresponding expectation that the size of the team will continue to grow in the coming years.
A strong understanding of the various components of the Digital Tech & Comms industry and the current competition in this space for financial services will be essential to the commercial objectives of the business. Specifically, representing industry insights and knowledge externally to clients and the market, and internally to leadership, Risk, and other partners. This position will work closely with BCMA counterparts.
Excellent communication skills required to present and negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, and contribution to future strategy of the Global Technology subsector, inclusive of Semiconductors, Hardware, and Telecom, among other sub-industries. Full management responsibility of team, including management of people, FTE budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations. This role will report directly to the CCB EC Head for Digital Tech and Comms.
Responsibilities:
Originate, manage, and grow new, multi-product and multi-country client relationships. Own, respond to, uncover and anticipate future needs, roadblocks, risks and expectations
Manage a growing team in delivering the Bank to the clients while developing their skills and capabilities
Drive innovation on the solutions we provide clients through partnerships with product specialists and subject matter experts, while structuring deals that balance risk and reward.
Be the Best" for our clients by understanding and delivering on clients' holistic operational, risk management, financing and strategic agenda. Be responsible for Client-level planning, budget and revenue responsibilities. Identify cross-sell opportunities to deepen and increase share of wallet.
Execution of strategic initiatives launched centrally at all levels, including global coordination with other regions and working closely with other areas of Citi's Institutional Client Group
Drive complex multi-product solutions across multiple geographies, such as regional cash management solutions, coordinated hedging solutions and Capital raising solutions, etc.
Work closely with Credit Loan Management and Independent Risk to ensure the establishment of new credit relationships as well as the monitoring of the existing credit portfolio. Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi's policies / guidelines at all times
Attract, retain and motivate a team, meet team performance goals, including robust new client acquisitions
Qualifications:
10+ years of commercial banking experience
In-depth knowledge of all aspects of commercial banking products including cash management, derivatives, syndicated and bilateral loans, capital markets issuances, trade, etc.
Possesses sound judgment and is creative in providing structured solutions to bank clients
Significant experience with credit decision making authority, with experience in complex capital structures and cross border transactions
Multi-year experience pitching and executing capital markets solutions, including joint calling with investment bankers as well as independently is desired
Must have a sharp business development focus. Demonstrate innovative and forward-looking approach to new opportunities and a proactive approach in looking for ways to develop new and strengthen existing business relationships with clients, delivers a frictionless client experience
Demonstrate thought leadership. Ability to create long-term trust and advisory based relationships will clients
Tangible knowledge of competitors and how to successfully select a target market and position Citi to win
Must be able to actively engage with senior management within US and Global Commercial Bank, as well as the Banking, Capital Markets, and Advisory team
Advanced level credit skills with the expectation to be appointed to Senior Credit Officer
FINRA Series 79, 63 and SIE required or ability to obtain
Ability to work effectively in team setting
Able to effectively interact with a variety of internal and external constituencies
Proven track record of successfully leading, mentoring, teaching, coaching, and training required; managing and leading teams preferred
Proven track record for retaining, attracting and developing talent preferred
Proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal communication skills
Able to quickly adapt priorities based on the latest data insights
