The FX Product Specialist is responsible for strategy, platform, client delivery and profitable growth of the business unit. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the development of product plans, strategies, and tactics while coordinating product lines through product life-cycles in coordination with the broader Product Management team. The overall objective of this role is to coordinate the promotion of products to develop new markets, increase share of market, achieve profitable growth and obtain competitive position.
Responsibilities:
Manage the lifecycle strategy from acquisition through early client engagement and implement strategies to optimize portfolio performance
Assess relevant customer, competitor, and industry insights to help define strategies to improve client experience and portfolio growth and align product innovation roadmap to create advanced solutions for clients
Advise and provide insight and recommendations on innovative and strategic product development, product targeting, and segmentation strategies as well as direct and oversee aspects of product development life cycle management including market demands, technology trends, and the competitive field
Provide subject matter expertise and execute on core marketing disciplines such as product development, price, promotions, platform and pillars, launching, and marketing to improve client experience and portfolio growth
Oversee product financial performance including identifying opportunities and gaps, contributing to achievement of acquisition targets, developing business strategies and achieving expense management goals.
Work with Operations and Technology with regards to process design and vendor procurement as well as communicate business plans on marketplace approach
Input to the global strategic roadmap, development, launch, and marketing to gain maximum benefit from each product
Participate in budgeting and planning for strategic priorities and initiatives
Contribute to day-to-day product management for core products such as product delivery, client experience, and client communication strategies as well as help the team prioritize, negotiate, and remove obstacles to achieve business results
Develop plans and execute functional strategies for a country, multiple countries, cluster, or business requiring coordination and integration across units as well as provide input into strategic decisions affecting job family or function within a region or business
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
6-10 years of relevant experience
Experience working in cross-functional team and/or global business achieving high value business goals
Functional experience in product management, specialist sales or product development
Demonstrated experience driving business innovation, leveraging management information, and data analytics to drive results
Demonstrated knowledge of product development, financial acumen, and technology investment processes with experience in FX and or Custody
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, to establish rapport, motivate teams, invite contributions, and build consensus
Ability to work unsupervised and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
Demonstrated analytical and influencing skills
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Proven skills in:
Client engagement -in the Asset Managers, Asset Owners and Banks/Intermediaries sectors
Market awareness - factors driving our clients' priorities and our competitors' behaviour in the Securities Services FX segment
Regulatory understanding - familiarity with Dodd Frank, EMIR and other regulations directly or indirectly driving Foreign Exchange priorities
Subject matter expertise - good understanding of related fields such as cash, custody or fund administration, in addition to a strong background in foreign exchange
Planning and management - rigorous approach to prioritization and project management
Service model design - partnering with operations and technology to create effective and scalable service models
Revenue generation - track record in leading or supporting business development
Risk awareness - vigilance for factors driving risk to the firm and to clients
Results orientation - continued focus on delivery against goals
Education:
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Candidates for this role are likely to be currently working in a foreign exchange product or sales role, either for a custodian bank or a technology provider and will have 3+ years' exposure to foreign exchange
