Application Support is responsible for ensuring optimal performance and stability of the Firms production applications. The role offers a fast-paced and interesting mix of technical and business challenges, allowing the holder to develop an in-depth understanding of Morgan Stanley's trading technologies and businesses. While direct experience with these systems and business lines is not essential, the role requires these skills and knowledge to be developed over time. The team operates on a global, follow-the-sun basis that includes weekend coverage on rotation. This particular support role is specific to the Equity Derivatives trading and risk management applications, infrastructure and associated businesses.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. - Ideally Computer Science or related field, but other degrees also welcomed.
Desired skills: - Able to troubleshoot, problem solver - Analytical-Proficiency with Linux and/or Unix - Able to search log files and compose SQL queries - Excellent spoken and written English communication skills. - An understanding of server, storage, message queue (MQ), infrastructure and application technologies. - Experience providing application support for mission-critical applications - Experience managing production incidents under time pressure - Experience of problem management and Agile concepts - SQL databases experience (Sybase, DB2, Oracle) - Experience with large batch or MQ-based systems and exposure to XML messaging - Knowledge of AWS and Cloud computing - Scripting skills, like Perl, Python, or UNIX shell. - Good working knowledge of trading and risk management business concepts - Knowledge of Derivatives products and trading concepts - Understanding of electronic trading and/or risk management systems - Experience with Market Data and related concepts - Familiarity with job scheduling tools (Autosys) and version control tools and change management (SDLC)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs #LI-TS2
