MSET - Derivative Distribution The MSET Derivative Distribution team markets to and provides coverage for equity derivative clients that self-trade electronically through Morgan Stanley systems and algorithms. Clients include fundamental hedge funds / asset managers, banks / broker dealers, as well as systematic trading strategies. The ideal candidate will be able to coordinate and collaborate with multiple groups including derivative sales and trading, automated market making, electronic trading, and various IT trading engine development and support teams. At the same time the candidate will need to interface directly with clients, show strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrate intuition and thoughtfulness when explaining option trading algorithms and electronic market insights.
Primary Responsibilities: â?¢ Electronic options execution consultant and relationship manager: maintain and grow existing client relationships by providing color on execution performance, education and advice on market structure, best uses of various MSET products / execution algorithms. â?¢ Work with derivative sales and trading to identify and onboard existing derivatives clients with flow that would be a fit for the electronic execution channel. â?¢ Originate new clients for MSET and derivatives. This requires collaboration with prime brokerage, other MS sales desks, and relationships with exchanges, industry groups, and third-party derivative trading vendors. â?¢ Collaborate with derivative traders, automated marketing making, and IT dev teams to design and continually enhance execution algorithms to take advantage of client feedback, market structure changes, trade execution research, and automated principal liquidity. â?¢ Create content and commentary on electronic option markets and systematic trading best practices. Current topics of interest include depth and liquidity available on-screen markets, transaction cost analysis for options, modeling, and back testing option strategies. Required Qualifications: â?¢ Strong interpersonal and communications skills and ability to build relationships with a wide spectrum of client touchpoints: traders, portfolio managers, operations, IT. â?¢ A franchise builder who is hungry and willing to be a part of a top tier team. â?¢ Ability to work independently and to drive projects to completion. Preferred Qualifications: â?¢ Experience with electronic trading market practices and trading technology (FIX messaging, popular client EMS/OMS systems, and infrastructure connectivity). â?¢ Background in options trading and theory: conversant about volatility, greeks, multi-leg structures, and general hedging / investment views expressed via options. â?¢ Knowledge of listed options market structure: various exchange allocation and fee models, auction mechanisms, complex order books, and regulatory rules. â?¢ Series 7, 63, 3, and 57 licenses. Can be completed upon joining.
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
