The Off-Cycle Internship is an opportunity to experience the culture and atmosphere in the Investment Management Division by taking on some of the responsibilities and functions of a Full-time Analyst for a short period. The work that you do will be interesting and varied. The MSIM Sustainability team is responsible for the execution of MSIM's sustainable investing business strategy globally, including developing MSIM's ESG investment integration standards, helping to launch thematic Sustainable Funds, advising sales professionals and clients on sustainability matters, and producing sustainability data, tools, and research in support of our investment teams. The Sustainability team also comprises the Global Stewardship function, which coordinates our stewardship and investee engagement agenda. Integration of ESG data into the business is critical to this program's success. ROLE SUMMARY The sustainability regulations landscape is rapidly changing. The team is seeking a Regulatory Reporting Intern to support the ongoing development of a global regulatory operating model, as key sustainability regulations are finalized in major markets. Successful candidates will have an analytical mindset and an interest in applying those skills within sustainable finance. This is a high paced role that requires the ability to manage a high volume of data with hard regulatory deadlines. The role requires an ability to manipulate and review large data sets, identify detailed data quality issues, and troubleshoot. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Sustainability Regulation and Policy and work closely with several internal groups globally, including Data, Technology, Investment teams, Operations, Legal and Compliance. The internship will commence in the Q2/Q3 2024 and lasts twelve months. TRAINING PROGRAM You will receive on-the-job training and benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects. RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the setup and maintenance of reporting templates for ESG regulatory reporting (including, but not limited to SFDR, TCFD, SDR regulations), for annual reporting cycles, and implementation of new requirements
Understand key inputs including product and data elements, and types of narratives required for reporting on various regulatory aspects of ESG regulations
Partner with IT, Portfolio Surveillance and Operations teams to source relevant data internally and help translate that data into reporting templates for all investment products on an ongoing basis
Troubleshooting issues with regulatory reporting tech systems
User profile creation and user permissions and access management in regulatory reporting tech systems
Support the delivery of monthly ESG data (such as the European ESG Template) to MSIM's data dissemination partners
Working with the Digital team to ensure the relevant versions of sustainability disclosures are uploaded onto MSIM websites
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS
You have graduated from university or able to take the time off to commit for a full time internship role for twelve months if you are currently in study
Strong academic background with experience or educational credentials with focus on data analysis/engineering, computer science or relevant quantitative field
Strong Excel skills: ability to manipulate large datasets with VBA, macros etc.
High level of attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors or discrepancies, and investigate solutions or escalate as required
Excellent time-management and prioritization skills, as this is a fast-paced role supporting several business teams
Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), and the ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders, including investment teams, Client Reporting, Client Relationship Management, Operations, Portfolio Surveillance
Ability to retrieve and manipulate data using SQL and Python would be preferrable
