We are currently looking for a Synthetic fuels specialist to join S&P Global's dynamic Biofuels research team. Biofuels Analytics is part of the Commodity Insights Agribusiness group, which offers data and research solutions on major crops and food commodities, fertilizers, biofuels and other low-carbon fuels, crop science, and animal health. The team is responsible for generating insights into biofuels and other low-carbon fuels markets globally and for creating short and long-term views on the supply, demand and pricing of these fuels.
Synthetic fuels are emerging as a key decarbonization pathway for transportation, in particular aviation, complementing more established solutions such as electrification and biofuels. We are seeking a specialist able to drive research and insights into this nascent market, to support our customer base in their decarbonization strategies.
You will be responsible for developing S&P Global's coverage of synthetic fuels. This includes researching, gathering data, and developing insights into current market trends, regulatory frameworks, risks and opportunities, and long-term outlooks for the sector. You will work closely with colleagues across various Commodity Insights teams (Hydrogen, Carbon Capture and Storage, Biofuels, Refining, and Marketing) to bring clarity to this new and dynamic industry.

Take a leading role in researching and creating analytical content for synthetic fuels markets
Create, manage, and maintain models and databases to inform short and long-term supply and demand, and pricing of synthetic fuels
Act as a subject matter expert for these markets, contributing to a wide range of S&P Global Commodity Insights publications
Develop and deliver presentations and thought leadership on topics around synthetic fuels
Create charts, graphs, maps, and other visual content that illustrates the trends customers need to follow
Engage with customers and potential customers, demonstrating expertise and acting as an ambassador for S&P Global pursuit of analytical excellence
Five years of market-related experience. Additional experience in other markets, e.g., energy, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, and refined products, would be advantageous.
An ability to understand technical and chemical processes
Excellent communication skills which include a concise written style, excellent verbal and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally.
Experience in modeling, forecasting, and quantitative analysis
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
BA Degree in a relevant field e.g., Engineering, Statistics preferred
Innovative thinking and proactive behavior, able to work effectively and efficiently within a flexible global team environment
Experience within the low-carbon fuels sector
Experience within the biofuels industry or knowledge of existing and emerging bio and renewable technologies
Experience within other sectors, e.g., refined products, hydrogen, carbon capture, and storage would also be advantageous
Experience developing large supply and demand models, or energy system models
Understanding of low carbon policy and regulations related to fuels
