Director - U.S. / Global Fixed Income Fund Ratings

The Role: We are currently looking for an experienced and highly skilled individual to join the Global Fund Ratings practice at the Director level in the New York office. The successful candidate will possess the ability to undertake rigorous analytical work and will be skilled at performing fixed income mutual funds credit analysis and conducting research and writing analytical reports based on fundamental analysis. Prior experience with fixed income mutual funds (money market funds, bond funds, ETFs (exchange traded funds), SMAs (separately managed accounts), LGIPs (local government investment pools) is strongly preferred; however, a background as a credit analyst in other sectors within financial institutions or insurance would be considered. An ability to quickly absorb, analyze and act upon new information is essential. The successful candidate will be adept at navigating in an environment which stimulates continuous improvement and innovation, and the highest customer service standards while adhering to established ratings criteria, methodology, policies and procedures. The individual will be able to demonstrate analytical excellence, and superior presentation skills in front of senior external and internal audiences, and rigorously maintain and enhance the quality and timeliness of our analysis. Responsibilities:
Take analytical and managerial responsibility for a small team (pod) of credit analysts and a portfolio of about 45-50 fixed income mutual fund sponsors in North America
Lead and coach a pod of associate directors, associates, and support analysts.
Maintain surveillance as primary analyst on a portfolio of up to 10 high profile ratings.
Manage workflows and resources for the pod, including surveillance activity, analytic reviews, engagements, and the related publishing both within the pod and across our broader global FUNDS ratings team in conjunction with our other pod leaders.
Review, critique, and provide analytic inputs and feedback on analysis, modelling and publishing performed by the team.
Develop technical and behavioral skills of pod-members.
Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with issuers and other stakeholders.
Represent S&P Global at meetings with senior management of existing or new clients as well as at education meetings or seminars on analytical matters.
Chair rating committees focused on fixed income mutual funds.
Demonstrate strong analytical excellence and thought leadership to internal and external audiences and maintain and enhance the quality and timeliness of our analysis.
Assure that analytical guidelines, operational procedures and policies are adhered to by the analytical staff.
Lead/contribute to methodology development and other continuous improvement initiatives as required.
Prepare a variety of material suitable for publication on S&P Global's credit portal and other media (such as rating reports, press releases, and commentaries) on a timely basis.
Lead investor analytical education activities as required.

Summary of Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for monitoring the ratings on a portfolio of money market and bond funds, including fixed income ETFs, LGIPs and SMAs, as part of a team led by a senior analyst, and other experienced team members with a large focus on SEC registered 2a-7 funds domiciled in the US. The candidate will be required to prepare extensively and lead meetings with senior management teams to extract and assess information relating to a money market and bond funds' credit quality, and to explain our credit rating opinions verbally and in writing. Strong presentation and organizational skills are also required to present clear, detailed information and reasoned opinions to our credit rating committees.
Qualifications:
At least 10 years of credit risk analytical experience within an asset management company, financial services firm, including a commercial/investment bank working in the field of credit or financial analysis of U.S. and/or Canadian companies.
M.A. or MBA within Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or Mathematics.
Have strong analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial statements, accounting concepts, and understanding of the details of banking functions.
An independent ability and desire to learn and drive his/her own analysis and research, while working within a collaborative work environment is critical.
Be willing to travel, sometimes with short notice.
Be computer literate having strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint and database application skills.
Ability to prepare forecasts based upon reasoned assumptions will be required.
Possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written, as well as the capacity to expand learn and contribute.
Successful candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S. Fluent in business English is required.
Have a good track record of managing or coaching people.
Be numerate and accurate with figures and detail oriented with the ability to maintain accuracy whilst complying with potentially tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to represent S&P Global Ratings at meetings with issuers and investors and at seminars in a highly professional manner.
Preferred: CFA accreditation a plus.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $125,900 to $250,300 . Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
