On behalf of a global financial services organization, perform quantitative financial and economic analysis and research on foreign exchange (FX) and emerging markets (EM) fixed income (FI) market topics for coverage across Latin America ??? Develop financial and quantitative models in order to analyze financial products including FX spot, FX options, and EM FI markets ??? Develop and maintain quantitative models to answer relevant research questions in FX and rates markets and to strengthen Barclays Research framework for valuation and forecasting in FX markets, including compiling and processing macroeconomic and financial data using Haver Analytics, Bloomberg, and extensive use of econometrics and other mathematical and statistical techniques ??? Compile, analyze and report on data to explain economic phenomena and forecast market trends ??? Conduct research and prepare reports to assess economic trends and to understand international macro and market linkages and the structure of FX and local rates in EM ??? Use statistical tools to assess risk-reward profiles of trades ??? Recommend actionable trade ideas in FX and local rates in EM, using knowledge of technical aspects of trading markets (valuation, positioning, flows, carry) ??? Work on bespoke projects and conduct empirical studies using public databases and Barclays' proprietary data, models, and analytics ??? Research and analyze the economic impacts of policy and financial regulations ??? Disseminate research findings via Barclays Research periodicals ??? Liaise with internal teams including Sales and Trading, as well as external clients such as institutional investors and corporates, on market views and research analyses ??? Interact with clients, individuals in other research groups, professionals in sales and trading functions, and policy makers to advertise Barclays' Research views, discuss market trends, and monetize them through actionable trade recommendations ??? Utilize knowledge of large data sets, Bloomberg, Eviews, and Haver Analytics, advanced econometrics, and Matlab, R, and Python programming, to carry out the job duties ??? Travel to Latin America to attend meetings with clients as necessary
What we're looking for:
??? Requires minimum of a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Finance, Financial Engineering, Financial Economics, Economics, Mathematics, or related field, and at least five (5) years of experience in role offered, or as a Financial Analyst, Foreign Exchange (FX) Analyst, Economist, or related role for a financial/banking institution ??? Must have five (5) years of experience with: Forecasting geopolitical trends and macroeconomic variables; Developing empirical models to understand economic relationships; Researching and analyzing Fixed Income (FI) market topics with relation to the U.S. and Mexico; Using quantitative and financial databases including Bloomberg, Eviews, Haver Analytics; and Using Matlab and R programming to execute advanced statistical modelling. Must have knowledge of: advanced econometrics, macroeconomic policy (fiscal, monetary, trade), and FX markets and theory, with focus on applications for Latin America coverage ??? Position requires up to approximately 10% of fully reimbursable business travel to Latin America to attend meetings with clients
