The Role: Release Train Engineer
The Grade: 12
The Location: NY, NY OR US, Virtual
Responsibilities:
As an RTE: - Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART
- Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments
- Facilitate PI Planning readiness and PI planning events
- Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives
- Assist in tracking the execution of features and capabilities
- Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings
- Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams
- Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindset
- Help manage risks and dependencies
- Escalate and track impediments
- Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
- Encourage collaboration between teams and System Architects/Engineering
- Work with Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
- Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand
- Work with the Program Management Office on program execution and operational excellence
- Facilitate System Demos
- Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops
- Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices
- Listen and support teams in problem identification and decision-making
- Create an environment of mutual influence
- Understand and empathize with others
- Encourage and support the personal development of each individual and the development of teams
- Coach people with powerful questions rather than use authority
- Think beyond day-to-day activities; apply systems thinking
- Support the teams' commitments
- Be open and appreciate openness in others
Basic Qualifications: - Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills required
- Strong administrative and organizational skills required, as is a focused attention to detail
- A proven willingness to learn, a positive service attitude, and an ability to work in a fast-paced, high demand work environment
- 3+ years working in Agile environment as Scrum Master
- 3+ year working in SAFe environment as an RTE
- RTE Certified
- Excellent understanding of development concepts and SDLC methodologies.
- Strong customer focus, excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to work with little oversight and supervision, while knowing when to escalate transparently
- Experience with globally distributed teams
- Excellent understanding of development concepts and SDLC methodologies
- Adherence to architecture standards, risk management and security policies.
Desirable Qualifications: - Experience with other Agile/Lean practices such as XP or Kanban
- Practice of Continuous Integration or Continuous Delivery
- Coaching Certificate
- A-CSM/CSP-SM Certified
- SPC Certified
Education - Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Technology, or Operations.
Compensation/Benefits Information:
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,200 - $170,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
