Job Description
Independently conducts legal research, drafts legal documents of greater complexity, and performs other legal related duties under the guidance of BNY Mellon attorneys. Support technology-enabled initiatives around contract workflow management, including assisting with end-to-end contracting workflow review procedure, policy enhancements and audit readiness. Familiarity with Contract Lifecycle Management System, in particular, SirionLabs and ServiceNow, are a huge plus. Drafts, prepare and process complex legal documents for general or specific areas of BNY Mellon's legal practice.
- Compiles complex information from a variety of bank sources and prepares responses to legal information requests from outside counsel or other stakeholders.
- Maintains and updates database files and electronic documentation systems that preserve and protect sensitive information. Independently conducts fact-finding and legal or regulatory research.
- Additional responsibility will include assisting with special project, strategic reporting, and other day-to-day contract workflow management support matters, for example, maintenance of template documents, clause libraries, legal repositories and file folders, manage user accounts onboarding, offboarding, handle training and troubleshooting, and communicate substantive changes to users as they become available.
- Prepares findings for review by attorneys.
- May provide input into potential actions or subsequent research based on findings.
- Directly communicates with outside counsel and staff on engagements, arranging critical exchange of information, and reviewing incoming documents for relevance and proper dispensation.
- May do a preliminary review of content and provide an overview for attorneys.
- May lead a project team of other legal support staff involved with large-scale legal matters.
- No direct reports, provides guidance to less experienced colleagues as needed. Takes lead on projects and initiatives.
- Contributes to the achievement of related teams' objectives. Modified based upon local regulations/requirements.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- 3-5 years of total work experience preferred.
- Experience in legal support within the financial services industry preferred.
