The Role: North American Environmental Commodities and Policy research analyst. A key focus of the role involves supporting comprehensive and regular fundamental analysis and forecasting of the key North American carbon markets (WCI, RGGI, California LCFS) - taking into account changes to underlying policy drivers. The role will also lead efforts to coordinate and deepen analytical offering around the key established compliance REC markets looking to drive renewable uptake in the North American power markets. The research will include responsibility of honing and updating of regional market abatement curves which can inform environmental commodity pricing and costs of achieving targets. Beyond the existing markets - the role will also be responsible for tracking, generating and deepening analysis around new and emerging carbon and renewables markets in the Americas (including voluntary carbon and voluntary RECs). This is as part of broader global initiatives to drive client insights around the implement environmental commodities as a key tool of the broader energy transition - looking to drive the decarbonization of economies to achieve needed emissions reductions and sustainable energy sectors. The analyst is part of an established team across global regions, tasked with and developing and maintaining of a suite of new analytical offerings around environmental commodities. Critical to success will be ability to understand and interpret complex policy developments (executive, legislative and judicial). The Location: New York, Houston, Washington DC, Houston, Denver The Impact: This is a key role for the Climate and Energy Transformation team, working within the Gas Power and Climate Solutions Division at S&P Global Commodity Insights - focused on delivering on the promise of this increasingly utilized policy construct to drive desired environmental outcomes. This role is crucial to assisting market participants navigate the Energy Transition and the numerous risks and opportunities associated with the transition to a less carbon-intensive energy sources. Working from the core of Commodity Insights initiatives to bring insights to growing segments of energy markets. The role is uniquely positioned to collaborate with various groups within Commodity Insights including analytics, pricing, strategy, commercial, market engagement, and product development. The Team / The Business: You will work with a highly motivated and innovative team of analysts who share the common goals of driving transparency in new or opaque markets and creating actionable solutions for our customers. You will work with a global team in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. The environmental markets analysis team will work to run, hone and develop models to provide underlying rigor to the outlooks and forecasts. The analyst will work with commercial and market engagement teams to ensure maximum value delivery to stakeholders. The team is on the cutting edge of market knowledge, monitoring all latest developments in The team delivers analysis and insights to market participants though several mediums including periodic and special reports, data visualization platforms, conferences and events, and other customer engagement forums.
