Prosper Portland, Portland’s economic development agency, seeks an experienced payroll and accounting specialist to join our high performing finance and accounting team. The position is responsible for administering payroll and supporting a variety of accounting processes. In this vital role, you will apply a social and racial equity lens to the agency's payroll and accounting processes while maintaining the payroll system. You will prepare biweekly payroll, perform accounts payable and vendor management activities. You will prepare payroll for compliance with all related policies and procedures and applicable local, state and federal laws, ensuring that pay, benefits, and taxes are applied and processed accurately for all staff.
The ideal candidate has a solid knowledge of the rules and practices of payroll and accounting practices, regulations, and laws including FMLA, OMFLA, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Payroll certification, preferably an Oregon Payroll Certificate will be helpful in this role. Familiarity with the UKG payroll system, PERS, CIS Benefits, and governmental accounting (GASB) is a plus.
