The University of Tennessee System enthusiastically invites applications and nominations for an Endowment Officer / Accountant in the Treasurer's Office.
Reporting directly to the Associate Controller, the Endowment Officer / Accountant provides the specialized endowment accounting required to manage and properly account for the University's and UT Foundation's endowments and quasi-endowments. In addition to the accounting, this position is responsible for reviewing all new endowment agreements and amendments to existing agreements. This review ensures that endowment language is acceptable and complies with University fiscal policy. This position is responsible for managing the pooling of endowment gifts that comprise the University's endowment Investment Pool, and managing the quarterly distribution of endowment earnings to operating accounts. Additionally, this position provides back-up support to the University's treasury operations.
Position responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
Endowment Accounting and Management
Endowment agreement and amendment review
Monthly pooling (to buy shares of consolidated investment pool)/monthly market value process to value each endowment
Quarterly distribution to each endowment based on shared owned in CIP
Update monthly MV to web
IRIS account creation and maintenance of endowment and related expense accounts
Complete monthly reconciliations of negative cash balances in individual endowments
Performing manual reinvestment entries requested by departments/donors into document management system (Onbase)
Approve all users for endowment access in Onbase
Approve all endowment entries and maintain accounts in IRIS
Manage and maintain Fundriver endowment management system
Complete year-end financial statements/schedules related to endowment numbers/notes to financial statements
Yearly state audit samples/reports/questions
Yearly ERP upgrade testing
Yearly reports sent to Plough Foundation
Year-end quasi endowment list for June Board meeting
Year-end entries for separately invested endowments
Provides account balance and/or MV for endowments or related expense account
Completes income projections for department's budgeting purposes
Responds to questions from donors, development officers, and the Foundation
Reviews information for quasi-endowments
Treasury Operations Support
Wire transfer or approval of wire transfers
Bank account reconciliation support
