Lead the dynamic Data In Motion technical team supporting MFT, MQ, DataPower and event tools to modernize them and enable cloud solutions. Manage a team of 30 personnel to design, engineer and develop solutions to support our data strategy. Oversee and govern compliance with data policies, standards and regulations (internal and external). Partner with the business and across technology to design and deliver robust and efficient technology solutions to meet specific business needs in the data management arena. - Provide direction and day-to-day leadership to a technical data management team. Develop and maintain an effective organization with appropriate skills, structure, and direction to meet current and future business needs. Develop a team of high performing people through effective hiring, coaching and rigorous performance/talent management processes. Foster an innovative, collaborative, success-oriented team environment where resources are empowered and accountable.
- Consult extensively with multiple client groups and across technology to understand data-related business needs. Collaborate with leadership and architecture on the design of a supporting data management strategy that aligns with architectural design, plan and standards and focuses on evolving and optimizing data management capability within the organization's applications and processes. Implement and drive strategy. Provide client groups with innovative solutions that enable the organization and comply with external regulation and internal standards/policies. Ensure solution design and delivery meets requirements (e.g. availability, performance, integrated and scalable) and expectations regarding cost, schedule and scope. Effectively oversee multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously. Influence long-range function and enterprise-level data/database architecture and management strategies.
- Develop and implement data management policies and procedures based on industry best practices, governmental regulations and organizational effectiveness. Champion policies, procedures and regulations (internal and external) by providing leadership to - and educating - the organization (client groups, technology functions and data management team) and developing, implementing and managing methods to effectively govern compliance.
- Ensure thorough and effective quality assurance measures are established and executed for data used in critical business functions. Oversee data and database related incidents to ensure prompt and effective remediation. Escalate further and ensure effective hand-off of issues to other technology groups as required. Communicate status and action plans to leadership as appropriate. Ensure plans are put in place to address recurring incidents. Lead audit activities, review findings and recommend and implement solutions into technology, policies and procedures. Actively champion and contribute to the continuous improvement of database management best practices, using innovative ideas to increase effectiveness of the overall DBA function and organization.
- Gain and maintain an understanding of company's competitive position and differentiating capabilities in the financial services industry. Maintain expert technical skills and knowledge of industry best practices in data management technology, methodology, standards and regulations. Provide expertise in the selection and implementation of data management tools and best practices. Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with business partners and across technology.
Required Qualifications - Bachelors degree (4-years) in Computer Science, Technology or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 7-10+ years of experience in roles of increasing responsibility in the technology field, including data management and database administration with expertise in database concepts, operational databases, data warehousing and related tools and best practices.
- 3-5+ years of leadership experience (direct or indirect), including demonstrated success in leading technical teams and delivering technical solutions.
- 3+ years of experience and proven success identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement to procedures, process and technology to optimize operation, enabling greater capability and efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications - 2-3+ years of direct people leadership experience, including hiring and performance management.
- 5+ years of experience managing design and governance of policies and standards while ensuring compliance with legal/regulatory statutes.
- Experience with one or more systems including IBM Sterling Integrator, Sterling Control Center, IBM App Connect Enterprise, IBM MQ, IBM DataPower and event systems (Kafka, Confluent...)
- Knowledgeable of metadata strategy and deployment; data architecture; data modeling tools and methodologies; data quality concepts; and data profiling techniques.
- Strong presentation skills with proven ability to successfully interface with and influence at all levels (executives and technical staff).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effectively delivers technical information to non-technical audiences and vice versa.
