Who we are looking for With immediate effect we are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to be a key member of the Compliance organization based in London. They will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and the CEO of State Street Global Advisors Limited. The candidate will play a key role in the oversight of the UK Compliance Strategy and Program, will be responsible for building a strong second line of defense and will need to successfully engage and manage a team of approximately 3 compliance professionals. This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office based in Canary Wharf, London, to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for As Head of UK Compliance, Managing Director, you will
Utilize a strong knowledge of the existing UK regulatory frameworks and comprehensive understanding of the asset management industry, services and products
Demonstrate high levels of drive and focus together with enthusiasm for working in an international organization which delivers a global compliance program are prerequisites
Possess an ability to effectively support, while balancing regulatory risk, portfolio managers, traders, sales professionals and asset management functions
Manage the SSGA UK Compliance team
Perform a leadership role for the UK on Regulatory Compliance, Regulatory Development and Monitoring & Surveillance
Advise the UK business on technical compliance matters, in particular, in relation to client facing activities, sales and distribution, and governance
Anticipate and implement regulatory change emanating from the UK jurisdiction with a strategic vision
Represent SSGA Compliance on Board and governance committees
Oversee the design and delivery of training and awareness measures on key aspects of the compliance program
Supervise the review and update of policies and procedures
Ensure appropriate oversight and monitoring of designated areas of regulatory risk
Take a leadership role for the regulatory risk assessment framework that drives the global compliance oversight program
Represent the Compliance function at Regulator, Client and Trustee meetings and Preparation of Compliance management information
Effectively manage internal and external audits, regulatory thematic and close and continuous supervision from the local regulator
Provide compliance support to the SSGA AML/ KYC Ops team
Demonstrate an ability to understand the investment compliance and trading oversight functions as well as experience in portfolio compliance breach investigation, escalation and resolution processes

Education & Preferred Qualifications
Educated to degree level
Minimum of 10 years' of relevant experience within asset management compliance
Demonstrated effective network of contacts within the industry
Additional professional, academic or relevant industry qualifications are also desirable
