Description Description: CME Group are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who has extensive experience in performance, reliability, and optimization to join a dynamic team responsible for mission-critical Risk Management Systems. This role will independently engineer secure, scalable, and reliable technology solutions to advance CME Group in the global marketplace and serve risk management needs of customers around the world. The ideal candidate is expected to bridge the risk domain and technical capabilities needed to process large volume of data with a high throughput to meet the business SLA. The candidate will use a variety of technology to instrument the application to measure baseline and make necessary changes both on the software and hardware setup to achieve desired outcome. The candidate is expected to solve problems creatively, communicate effectively, and proactively engage in technical decision making to achieve the critical mission of the team.
Principal Responsibilities
Exhibits language proficiency and independently writes application modules and unit tests as well as designs
Develops designs and implementation for optimization and higher throughput meeting non-functional aspects of a project
Exhibits proficiency in SQL knowledge, intermediate in database modeling and skilled in database tuning
Conducts full system and performance testing. Analyze test results and provide appropriate solutions
Defines key metrics driving code optimization, leads discussion of code reviews and contributes to architectural discussions
Manages environment build deployments, release notes and build notices
Reviews code to proactively identify and mitigate potential performance issues and defects as well as identify solution problems and issues outside code
Influences best practices development, contributing to process enhancements, and enforces best practices on project work
Collaborate effectively across teams
Passionate about performance, reliability, and scalability
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
5+ years Core Java development experience
Experience working with multithreaded applications
Ability to write clean, bug-free code that is easy to understand, and easily maintainable
Ability to write code which can satisfy low-latency & high-throughput requirements
Experience using Java testing and profiling tools for performance evaluation and troubleshooting
Proficient with Spring frameworks and RESTful APIs
Strong understanding in Relational database concepts and no sql database
Strong knowledge of SQL
Experience with Linux and good understanding of OS
Experience working with open-source libraries
Experience using Confluence, JIRA, or other Atlassian Agile tools
Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication skills
Desirable Qualifications
Experience working with financial risk management applications
Experience using Streaming Technologies such as Apache KAFKA
Experience with Splunk
Experience with Google Cloud Platform
