Provide operational and analytical support to portfolio managers and analysts. Provide an important operational link between the investment team and the trading team. Function as a liaison between the investment team and other internal business partners.
Responsibilities
- Enter individual security trading orders (Equity Long/Short, Derivatives), monitor limit orders, and seek pre-trade compliance approvals when necessary. Ensure "clean orders" are received by the Trading desk for execution. Independently prepare and run trading buy/sell (re-balance) programs for assigned portfolios, while following established protocols for each fund and seeking input from portfolio managers and/or trading, as necessary or required.
- Validate and monitor cash levels throughout the day. Provide daily trade or cash reports to Portfolio Managers and Analysts.
- Provide market news and commentary as requested by portfolio manager/analysts by gathering intel from news sources such as Bloomberg/research reports and potentially communicating with sales traders and position traders at other firms.
- Act as a liaison between the investment team and other internal business partners, as it relates to the strategies supported, which includes investment performance and risk, marketing/investor relations, corporate actions team, compliance, and information technology.
- Understand firm policies, procedures, and specific investment account guidelines and limits as they relate to the strategies supported. Maintain/update procedure manual.
- Monitor team portfolio holdings and related work in accordance with policies to ensure accuracy. Update portfolio holdings and databases.
- Perform other ad-hoc requests, including limited research and special analytic projects, as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- 1-5 years of related experience.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills. Collegial "team player" mentality who can work well within groups as well as independently.
- Investment Management business knowledge and experience with equities securities, derivative experience a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and not hesitant to seek clarification to ensure understanding.
- Strong computer skills and aptitude for technology. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically in Excel.
- Comfortable working in a fast pace, open office atmospheres.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where detailed and complex rules and regulations exist.
- Strong mathematical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- BA or BS degree in Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science or other field.
- Basic level of understanding of the financial markets.
