This role is in the Wealth, Trading & Production Solutions (WTPS) department. The individual will complete reviews across investment product lines (such as exchange funds, hedge funds, handled futures funds, BDCs, CEFs, REITs, private equity, estate placements and 1031 exchanges). This role analyzes investment management teams, strategy, structure, performance, compliance, fees and distribution potential. They will evaluate marketplace trends and build external relationships, encouraged to be a guide in firm-wide business and regulatory initiatives.
Conduct due diligence reviews on new and existing non-daily liquid alternative investments including on-site/virtual visits and interviews with senior management of the firm
Evaluate fund and firm structure, investment thesis, performance, valuation procedures, fees, legal & compliance environment and distribution capabilities
Collaborate with Product Management team to assess market place opportunities and develop the offering platform
Support product training, including advisor-facing content as well as internal Ameriprise sales team materials
Serve as point of contact and authority for alternative investments
Lead and influence internal, cross functional meetings
Engage the Investment Research Group, General Counsel's Office and Compliance to ensure that all aspects of product requirements are met
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of 7 years financial services experience including investment and research experience
Minimum of 5 years alternative investments experience (preferably non-daily liquid)
Deep knowledge of the alternative investments industry and product characteristics, financial/operational aspects of managers, compliance rules and regulations is required
Experience working within and across a large structure
Strong research capabilities, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal abilities
Active Series 7 and Active Series 24 or the ability to acquire the first within 120 days and the second within 90 days
Master's degree, CMA or CAIA
Experience with Preqin or other manager research tools
Experience with Microsoft Access or other modeling skills
Experience with SEC and FINRA rules/regulations
