The Bank of New York Mellon is seeking an experienced Java Developer to be responsible for delivering implementations for technical solutions. The Java developer will work with the team and develop the application, unit test, and deploy. To be successful as a Java Developer, the candidate should demonstrate sound knowledge of industry best practices, good organizational and communication skills, and proficiency in Java technologies.
Java/API Developer Responsibilities:
Working with the application software development services for small to very large complex projects.
Responsible for all facets of the BNYM development life cycle from Planning through Implementation.
Plays a key role in design and assists with co-ordination of construction and testing efforts ensuring a high-quality product for implementation.
Collaborating with team members to perform all change management practices and policies related to coding, testing and implementation activities.
Contributes to estimates and project plans.
Provides guidance on best practices to junior team members.
Awareness and compliance of all risk and compliance controls.
Conducts reviews of the test Plans and test Data.
May allocate/ coordinate work within a team/project.
Ensuring application performance standards are appropriately defined and achieved.
Collaborating with the business partners to identify and implement appropriate solutions.
Java/API Developer Requirements:
Sound knowledge of opensource Java technologies
Strong CS fundamentals, core Java, multithreading and problem solving skills
Experience designing & building complex, distributed, high-performance, high-availability systems
Hands on experience in Java 8+/JEE, Spring, RESTful API, JMS, Tomcat, Apache, OAUTH2.0, JWT, JAX-RS
Fundamental understanding of RDBMS and database design applications
Experience using version control and build tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Maven
Experience working in Agile development
Experience deploying software in a containerized (Docker)/Platform-as-a-Service environment
Knowledge of monitoring tools such as App Dynamics, MoogSoft and Prometheus
Knowledge of logging and messaging frameworks such as Kibana and Kafka
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. 7-9 years of experience in software development required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus. Job holder must have understanding interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans. S/he must have prior lead experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies. Extensive experience with developing and supporting mainframe applications required. Job holder must have broad experience with multi-platform development tools and toolkits.
