Cedars-Sinai's Office of Licensure, Accreditation and Regulation (OLAR) assists the organization in staying current and aligned with all the various regulatory standards, licensure requirements, survey preparations, and other regulated processes.

As a Surveillance Specialist for OLAR, in association with the Controlled Substance Pharmacy team, you will provide ongoing coordination, monitoring, education, evaluation and support to organization leaders with controlled substance diversion prevention.

  • You will utilize diversion monitoring software, review MIDAS and other controlled substance reports.
  • You will perform Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) audits for controlled substance surveillance and investigation.
  • You will also collaborate with the Medication Safety RN to lead in the collection, analysis and development of performance improvement plans for controlled substances.
  • You will serve as a resource to OLAR, Pharmacy leadership team, Nursing and Performance Improvement.

Monday - Friday, no weekends.

Educational Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • BSN required, MSN preferred.
Licensure/Certifications:
  • Current CA RN license
  • Healthcare Accreditation Program specialty certification required within one year of hire.
  • Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Professional inpatient Safety (CPPS), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Joint Commission Professional (CJCP) and Healthcare Accreditation Certified Professional (HACP) certifications preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years recent acute medical center RN experience.
  • Knowledge of MIDAS and Epic EHR software applications.
  • Experience with the management of controlled substances.
