This position plays an integral role in the MetLife Investment Management Real Estate group. Our Debt Strategies Group (DSG) is responsible for overall commercial mortgage portfolio strategy, pricing, transaction and credit approval on new loans and the active management of the overall mortgage portfolio. DSG seeks to identify institutional quality commercial mortgages that offer strong relative value. Our commercial mortgage loan platform targets opportunities in the primary and secondary markets. We focus on office buildings, retail centers, apartment complexes, industrial properties, and hotels. Investment real estate professionals in our regional office platform solicit, underwrite, originate, and manage the loans and have in-depth real estate knowledge and longstanding industry relationships within their regions.
Business lead and responsible for the mortgage production pipeline system. Managing day to day assistance to the regional producers across our platform plus business lead with system enhancements/debugging.
Coordinate production process/procedures for regional offices and assist as workflow exceeds Regional Office capacity.
Provide regular origination and portfolio updates to Senior Leadership Team
Provide business management support and contribute to the timely analysis of potential transactions presented to Debt Strategies Investment Committee.
Additional responsibilities include new business deal Risk Based Capital loan ratings, drafting Sr. Management loan approval requests, and providing loan data metrics for Board Meetings.
Maintain detailed tracking of real estate debt portfolio and pipeline
Manage relationship with and provide originations data for key constituent groups including Affiliated Insurance Companies, Portfolio Management Unit, Risk, Research & Analytics, Accounting, Compliance and Client Services Group. Develop relationships with key contacts through both verbal and written communication.
Ad hoc requests, projects, and new business initiatives related to the General Account and / or Investment Management portfolios. Quarterly and ad hoc PowerPoint presentations for the real estate debt team, internal and / or third-party investors.
Lead on market pricing and intelligence that feeds Relative Value Process, Market Value Process and coordination of Plan/QAA volume and pricing targets for DSG. Gather and maintain competitive intelligence from the market through various resources.
Manage data integrity for downstream reporting.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills
Excellent PC skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience required.
Prior finance or real estate related work experience.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication.
Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage several projects concurrently.
Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and work well in a small team environment.
3-5 years of experience in an analytical role focused on analyzing, reporting, and presenting data to senior management.
Undergraduate degree required, Real Estate or Finance preferred but not required.
