Program Description The Future School Leaders Academy program prepares school and district leaders for educational leader roles in Westchester and Putnam county school districts. Through a longstanding partnership with Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, Bank Street College elicits nominations of candidates with outstanding leadership potential from district leaders. Candidates take courses primarily on the BOCES campus in Yorktown Heights and do supervised fieldwork in their own schools and district offices. Adjunct Instructor Position: Bank Street College, Graduate School of Education, is looking for an adjunct for the following course to be taught in the Summer of 2022. Course: LEAD 870: Special Education Leadership: The District Perspective 1 credit Course Description: Strong leadership at the district level is essential if schools are to become positive and successful learning environments for diverse learners, including children with disabilities and those at risk of failure. This course covers issues that enhance or create obstacles for inclusive schools and communities. Issues of equity are evident in most school districts and challenge educators to transform educational environments and processes to meet diverse needs. The course will address the issue of “achievement gaps” as well as links between social class and achievement in schools. Course dates: July 11-14 (Monday through Thursday) from 2:00 to 5:00 on each day Qualifications:
