The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks a Clinical (Assistant/Associate) Professor of Real Estate for the Schack Institute of Real Estate, effective spring or fall 2022. (The rank of the position will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.)
The Schack Institute of Real Estate is actively seeking candidates who are distinguished academics and/or professionals with exemplary experience in commercial real estate, and have the ability to teach courses in the following areas: finance and investment, affordable housing, capital markets, real estate data analytics, portfolio management, development process, asset management, law, sustainability, green building, urban economics, city planning, property technology, and global real estate markets (namely in the Asia Pacific region).
Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Schack Institute of Real Estate, the successful candidate will work closely with the Academic Director to implement the vision for expanding Schack's real estate programs and initiatives, and to increase Schack's profile and visibility locally, nationally and internationally.
Successful candidates will teach within either the graduate, undergraduate, corporate & executive education programs; develop courses; advise students; collaborate with other faculty and industry partners; and engage with the broader NYUSPS academic community, as appropriate. Additionally, ideal candidates will have experience working with a diverse base of professionals and/or teaching a diverse population of students. This full-time begins with a minimum two-year renewable faculty appointment.
The Schack Institute of Real Estate
The Schack Institute of Real Estate was founded in 1967 by Larry Silverstein and the leadership of the New York City real estate community. They encouraged NYU to establish an academic center that would provide a world-class education for industry professionals. More than 50 years later, the Schack Institute of Real Estate is at the forefront of real estate education and is recognized globally as one of the world's leading centers of real estate research and pedagogy. The ideal candidate will (i) hold an advanced degree (terminal in their field or discipline), preferably in applied economics, urban economics, finance, city planning, urban studies, real estate, hospitality, technology, law, or a related field; (ii) have a significant industry or academic track record; (iii) have at least three years of academic experience or effectiveness in higher education. Candidates should provide evidence of initiative in curricular development, demonstrate an ability or potential ability to engage in meaningful service or administrative work, and supply evidence of promise in scholarly work.
