Value+/Restructuring Teneo Restructuring was launched in May 2021 following the acquisition of the Restructuring Services business of Deloitte UK. Teneo’s Restructuring business advises corporates, funds, creditors, and other stakeholders in situations of both stress and when looking to maximise value. Value+ is the dedicated arm of Teneo Restructuring that delivers this through a combination of value enhancing advisory, personnel and co-investment solutions.
The Role We are looking to hire a Managing Director/Director into our Hong Kong team. As a Managing Director/Director you will support the leadership team with:
Client Service – Leading project teams on a diverse range of challenging engagements – this will involve working with CEOs and senior executives of large corporations, private capital funds, family offices, creditors and other stakeholders.
Business Development – Support business development activities and generating sales in the market, with an alignment to a specific sector and technical skill being encouraged.
People and Leadership – Helping to lead, identify recruit and develop the Asia-Pacific Value+ team.

Leading challenging financial restructuring engagements on a day-to-day basis. This involves leading on-the-ground teams, managing junior staff and supporting the Senior Managing Director(s) in client-facing delivery and stakeholder management at a senior level.
Project managing the engagement, including the potential input of wider Value+ specialists, other Teneo service lines and other external advisors.
Accountable for the engagement quality and risk management, from take-on through to completion of engagement
Drives gross margin improvement through use of delivery models and strong focus on cash collection
People and Leadership
Provide visible leadership and role model behaviours on respect and inclusion.
Motivates and develops teams, investing in career and feedback conversations with appraises and engagement team. Actively support practice and talent development
Provide on-job coaching and development to staff. Develop junior staff outside of jobs through appraising and mentoring
Support wider Restructuring training initiatives Business Development
Actively lead business development activities using your own contact network as well as supporting SMD and Sector led marketing and sales activities
Identify and pursue potential new work opportunities using your own network as well as participating in existing business development programmes and key client accounts
Identify opportunities to expand jobs as well as opportunities to provide wider Teneo services to existing clients. Continues to develop knowledge of wider Teneo offerings
Lead marketing initiatives aimed at specific sectors, channels to market, or events. Leads on external insights in areas of expertise
Builds a strong pipeline and successfully generates profitable work.
Develops new market/industry knowledge, skills, points of view in response to changing market requirements
Likely to be a Chartered Financial Analyst or equivalent with respected experience in valuation, modelling, restructuring, diligence and/or financial analysis
Proven experience of working in, or advising on strategy, transformational or transaction programs
Developing analytical skills, including business analytics, business planning, short term cash flows, working capital and financing options
Experience and capability to form market POV on asset management, banking, private capital (equity and/or credit) opportunities
Appropriate experience in working or designing performance/value-based frameworks– from financial through to ESG, sustainability and long-term value
Strong communication skills to support working in a high-performance team
Energising team player and cares about personal development – for themselves and others
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and evidence of leading clients and teams / providing advice in difficult situations
Strong project management skills with an ability to lead teams and develop people
Good understanding of the marketplace, its trends and key players (principals and advisers)
Ambition to learn and develop further
Has interests outside work – to maintain personal balance and wellness
Educational and/or experienced background in finance e.g. CPA, CFA, MBA, financial modelling etc.
Local language skills – especially English, Cantonese and Mandarin
