Work side by side with the Head of the U.S. Bank Loan Team to manage and direct the strategy for the large and complex accounts and/or funds for bank loan portfolios including CLOs/CDOs, Retail Funds, Owned Assets and SMAs, with direct responsibility for leading and growing the CLO Platform. Responsible for investment performance and day to day portfolio management. Articulate and maintain a robust and consistent investment philosophy in managing the portfolios. Develop, maintain, and implement portfolio processes. Work with Head of team to supervise daily trading and settlement activities. Develop client communications strategies and maintain strong investor relations. Work with Central Research for idea generation, monitor industry trends and contribute to team strategy discussions.
Lead the portfolio management and operations of the CDO/CLO business for Fixed Income Investments.
Directs all bank loan investment activities, including directly managing client/fund assets and supervising Senior PMs.
Assist the Head of the team in establishing strategic direction for Bank Loan platform and adapt strategies to changing circumstances as required. Clearly communicate the strategic direction of Bank Loan platform to the team and key partners.
Execute business plan and drive AUM growth through CLO issuance, including directly marketing to investors, maintaining ongoing investor relations, and working with underwriters.
Manage the CLO ecosystem of vendors, which includes outside counsel, issuer counsel, trustees, auditors.
Work with the Head of the team to ensure the platform maintains technological capabilities equal to or exceeding industry standards.
Work collaboratively with internal partners across the firm including, but not limited to, areas such as Finance, Legal, Compliance, Risk Management, Sales, CPM's, Product Development, Back Office Operations, IT, HR and Public Relations (among others) to execute business plan and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Lead projects as assigned, on time and within budget, including cross team/department projects as required.
Partner with the Global Head of Fixed Income and CIO to ensure alignment on all bank loan strategies.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
10+ years' experience in the investment sector, including managing a significant amount of assets for the firm.
Intimate knowledge of CLO life cycle, including CLO issuance, Reinvestment period, Post Reinvestment Period and Liquidation.
Clear understanding of structuring and ability to negotiate indenture provisions.
Ability to drive strategic direction and achieve AUM growth targets.
Strong Investor Relations skills.
Understanding of the unique attributes of loan settlement process.
Ability to participate in internal strategy meetings and round table discussions, while clearly articulating an investment process and strategy in a group setting.
Ability to quickly analyze investment quality and respond to requests in a timely manner.
