The Specialist, Operational Risk Management is an individual contributor (non-managing) position reporting to the Director of Operational Risk. They will operate with significant independence as part of a small Operational Risk Team supporting an investment advisor operating out of Boston, Pittsburgh and San Francisco. The role exists to fulfill regulatory and client demand for independent quality assurance/ risk mitigation of non-portfolio risks within the investment advisor and to provide feedback that improves operations. The most important responsibilities will be executing on the firm's Enterprise Risk Management Program: Processing risk events: Investigating the root cause of errors. Evidencing and analyzing processes and controls that would benefit from enhancement. Facilitating the risk and control self-assessment: Reviewing risk assessments and analyzing the effectiveness of control design. Partnering with the business to identify gaps and to develop and complete action plans. Working with function leaders to design and operationalize meaningful risk and performance indicators. Fostering a positive, learning-oriented company culture: Educating risk owners and staff on policy requirements, answering questions and providing assistance. Proactively evaluating changes in business strategy, product development or other external factors that may impact the business' risk profile. The successful candidate will be organized and meticulous. S/he will be curious and eager to build a mental model of how the firm works. S/he will build strong relationships at all organizational levels and demonstrate consideration and comfort navigating conflict. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required 5-7 years of total work experience; experience in Investments, Operations or Audit preferred Knowledge of investment management processes and products, their main risks and general mechanics.
