The WPB Risk Team is responsible for the development and management of HBAU's risk management framework across all Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) products, supporting the business and ensuring risk strategies are focused on maximising portfolio profitability across the full credit spectrum. We monitor and manage the WPB mortgage portfolio to formulate and implement automated decisioning strategies and credit policies, identifying opportunities for improvement of performance, customer experience and ultimately profit. Putting your analytical skills to work, you will work closely with product management and collections teams, providing analytics and insights to identify emerging risks, validate assumptions and make improvements. You will be involved in quality control, reporting, ad hoc problem solving and mentoring colleagues with less experience. In doing so, you will be supporting the sustainable growth of the business. Your main responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the management and monitoring of the WPB Mortgage portfolio to formulate and implement business cases to sustainably grow the portfolio within the Banks risk appetite and enhance revenue across the credit life cycle.
Monitoring and optimising performance of automated decisioning strategies and credit policies, proactively identifying areas and opportunities within the strategy and policy framework to enhance portfolio performance, customer experience and profitability.
Working closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders such as Product Management and Collections, providing risk / reward related analytics and specialist advice to support the management of the Mortgage portfolio.
Proactively identifying emerging risks, problem areas and opportunities within the Mortgage portfolio and housing market to ensure we are proactively managing the portfolio under changing economic circumstances.
Supporting the WPB Mortgage Portfolio's increasing regulatory reporting requirements.
Assisting with stress testing of the Mortgage Portfolio.
Assisting with implementation and ongoing enhancement of all HBAU automated credit decisioning systems, models and strategies.
Qualifications To be successful in the role you will need:
Solid experience in SAS programming/analytics and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with R, Python and visual analytics (Tableau, Qliksense) experience an advantage, but not essential.
Experience in a similar role with a quantitative focus, with statistical modelling and machine learning to collaborate with regional modelling teams in scorecard building an advantage, but not essential.
Experience with credit risk for mortgage, credit risk and / or personal loan products or experience in banking, retail lending, modelling, regulatory reporting or risk appetite management an advantage.
Strong attention to detail, organisation and time management skills, coupled with excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively manage stakeholder relationships and present complex information in plain language.
An innovative approach to problem solving.
Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues with less experience.
Tertiary qualifications in a Statistics / Mathematics or a Computing related discipline is an advantage.
