About The Role Role Location: Sydney Role Type: Permanent, Full Time Markets & Treasury Financial Control (MTFC) is responsible for ensuring that the financial performance of the Global Markets trading business is accurately accounted for and reported. This role support the Balance Sheet Trading business within Markets, from a Finance perspective. Global Markets Balance Sheet Trading (BST) is a Global Business Unit within the Institutional and Markets at ANZ. The Business Unit is responsible for:
Holding high quality liquid assets which meet the requirements of the Groupâ€™s Liquidity Policy
Managing the market risks associated with those HQLA holdings
Managing the interest rate risk in the banking book (Mismatch)
The Balance Sheet Trading Control team is responsible for the supervision of daily financial results, desk valuation and hedge adjustments such as hedge accounting and provisioning, intarbi and month-end financials analysis and reporting. Your accountabilities include (but are not limited to):
Manage the fully explained and attributed FVOCI Reserve reporting for non-traded risk portfolios, calculate and report BST Bond IPV, produce and consolidate global B/S analysis, daily PnL oversight of the Liquidity portfolios.
Ensure the operating controls for the Balance Sheet Trading ("BST") business are evolving and fit for purpose.
Ensure month-end reviews are completed on all the relevant balance sheet accounts, including substantiation and analysis. Ensuring that these reconciliations are adequate, complete and acting as effective controls based on the nature of the business and the relevant accounting standards.
Proactively engaging and anticipating stakeholder needs and adding value to financial reporting processes.
Build and manage relationships with all stakeholders in diverse functions and locations with teams including MTFC, Front Office, wider Financial Control, Business Partnering, Market Risk, and TMG.
About You To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Extensive relevant experiencein Banking and Finance. Accounting knowledge required, including classification and ideally the application of Hedge Accounting.
Significant understanding of non-traded instruments, risks, and risk management relevant to the BST business, preferably with knowledge of liquidity books and asset-liability management.
Financial reporting experience in a financial markets environment
Strong experience of using MS Excel required with some experience of MS Access
Proactive and â€œon-the-ballâ€� ability as well as being flexible and responsive to change
Proficient communication skills both written and oral
