Department & Role Overview
Fitch Ratings is seeking an Associate Director to join its Ratings Business Analytics (RBA) group in London or Manchester. The team reports to the Chief Operating Officer of Fitch Ratings.
Please note that this role could be based in either London Docklands or our Manchester offices.
The RBA team provides high-quality, in-depth strategic analysis to drive better outcomes for Fitch Ratings. The team works closely with the Ratings Operations heads on business transformation initiatives, including developing business cases, evaluating cost/benefits for new initiatives, and reviewing and making recommendations on process re-engineering. Working closely with Ratings colleagues and tapping into a variety of source syst. ems, the team also develops analytics to support metric-driven decision making and analyzes operational and business performance. These efforts support firm-wide projects that will deliver improved business and operational results including growing revenues and developing new products
The team operates in a fast-paced environment and works towards short, medium and long-term deliverables.
The responsibilities of the Associate Director include but are not limited to the following:
Serve as a key point person within the team for acquiring and analyzing data from a range of internal databases and external sources to lead and support the team in building clear insights on Fitch's business performance and competitive positioning.
Support the development of senior-level presentations that summarize and present key findings, identify trends, and business strategies that inform or enable high-level decision-making on operations, strategy, and business change initiatives.
Own aspects of monthly management reporting for senior management (i.e. operational metrics, productivity reporting, etc.) using tools such as MS Excel, Alteryx, Tableau and QlikView
Focus on automation and efficiency in producing regular reporting / analysis
Proactively monitor various global business information and media outlets to gather competitive news, trends, statistics, and anecdotes relevant to Fitch Ratings.
Key Skills Required

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Ability to work with multiple large datasets to mine and analyse varying types of data to draw out appropriate insights
Willingness to learn new programs and tool related to data
Ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize different assignments whilst maintaining accuracy and adhering to tight deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business, economics, or similar analytical fields. Backgrounds in Data or Computer Science would also be considered.
Proven experience involving data analysis, ideally related to credit rating agencies, financial information, or the debt capital markets.
Intermediate knowledge of SQL (ability to read, write and debug SQL queries), advanced Excel skills will be key, along with PowerPoint
Knowledge and experience with mainstream analytical and data visualization tools such as Alteryx, Qlikview/QlikSense and Tableau.
Basic knowledge of VBA and/or Python a plus.
Prior Credit Ratings experience or knowledge a plus
