All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth. The Enterprise Risk team (ERT) in Australia is responsible for risk strategy and governance, transformation, risk stewardship and business management. We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Manager in Enterprise Risk to join the team, working closely with the Head of ERT. In taking on this role, your primary focus will be to provide risk stewardship on the risk classes under the Chief Risk Officer's (CRO) accountability, specifically Model Risk, Reputational Risk, Climate Risk and Contagion Risk. You will also drive and contribute to the transformation and innovation agenda and support the team in all aspects of the ERT responsibilities as needed by the Head of ERT and CRO, including to support the other in entity Risk sub-functions. This enterprise focused critical role will provide you with exposure to and involvement across a broad range of risk disciplines and bank-wide outcomes, with the opportunity to directly interact with regional stakeholders and senior local stakeholders on a regular basis. You will be someone who thrives in a busy, complex environment, approaching work with positivity and genuine curiosity to effectively problem solve and provide practical support and solutions to the function Your main responsibilities will include:
Continuing to build risk management awareness through delivery of Risk Management Framework education sessions across the first and second line as needed.
Supporting the CRO with execution of risk stewardship activities as it relates to Model Risk, Reputational Risk, Climate Risk and Contagion Risk.
Driving and supporting regulatory change requirements and programs as required.
Managing the Top and Emerging Risks for the entity including running the annual Emerging Risk Forum to review current and identify potential new emerging risks.
Improving the integration between the elements of the risk management framework with the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process and Business Plan.
Supporting the submission of enterprise wide stress tests, ensuring accurate, insightful and timely stress testing submissions are used to better inform business decisions.
Driving and supporting, both locally and regionally on transformation activities including innovation and Cloud initiatives.
Where and when possible, deputise for the Head of ERT.
Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need:
Previous experience with risk strategy, risk appetite, risk governance and enterprise risk management frameworks is preferred.
Solid understanding of financial risks as well as non-financial risks.
Solid understanding of the requirements of APRA CPS220 Risk Management Prudential Standard.
Proven experience working across all levels of a complex organisation to understand cross-functional linkages and interdependencies, business requirements and the implications of risk at both a strategic level and at the customer group level.
Demonstrated ability to assess risk trends, both internally and externally and determine risk based solutions.
Ability to develop and embed practical initiatives that improve the integration of risk management in day to day business across all levels of the organisation.
Strong interpersonal skills, providing the ability to form effective relationships and achieve influence at the senior levels in the organisation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to clearly articulate the case for risk strategy/management.
Proven ability to prioritise competing demands.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is an advantage, but not essential.
