USCÂ Credit Union, a dynamic $750 million credit union located steps from USCâs University Park campus near Downtown Los Angeles, is looking for an experienced Real Estate Loan Clerk for its fast paced Real Estate department.Â This position reports directly to the VP of Real Estate and is responsible for interviewing and counseling loan applicants and explain debt responsibilities and options. This position will also review, analyze and recommend approval or denial on a loan application and will perform a variety of tasks in support of the real estate lending department. The ideal candidate will represent the credit union in a professional and enthusiastic manner: by providing an exceptional level of customer service, supporting the mission statement, and adhering to our core values in all functions of their job responsibilities and interaction with internal and external members.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Reviews and understands the policies and procedures as it pertains to their job responsibility.
Gathers, prepares and submits appropriate loan documentation for further processing and review.
Proactively and consistently communicates with the borrowers, loan officer and referral partner with regard to the status of the loan filed.
Reviews loans and renders a preliminary credit decision based upon documentation received for loans within their lending authority.
Reviews, analyzes and recommends the disposition of a loan application and credit documents. Approves applications within pre-determined parameters and refers others to the credit committee.
Orders and reviews required documentation for the processing of real estate loans. Collects and reviews supporting documentation from title companies, credit, and property appraisals.
The ideal candidate will:
Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of current residential lending guidelines.
Current knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to the mortgageâbanking industry (i.e.Â TILA,Â RESPA, etc.).
Current knowledge of the mortgage origination process, policies, and procedures. Loan Prospector (LP) knowledge and DeskTop (DU).
Possess a high sense of urgency, attention to detail, initiative and integrity
Have exceptional interpersonal, customer service and communication skills
Pass a pre-employment background and credit check
