As a Barclays Senior Data Engineer you will design, build and test complex business and customer behavior forecasting models as well as generating strategic insights from raw data through the range of advanced quantitative analytical and statistical techniques. You will also be responsible for driving the implementation of strategic initiatives and influencing key stakeholders to adopt a new analytical evidence-based approach.

What will you be doing?
Building analytical tools to generate insight, recognise patterns and predict behavior, and to deliver content direct to users of information products
Working with technical teams, architects, designers, and administrators to overcome technical challenges.
Designing, testing and building complex forecast models and simulations to identify causal links between customer behavior and business opportunities and performance
Participating in the development of a growing team that is collegiate and Agile in ethos and is recognised for its commitment to delivery and excellent performance
Leading initiatives to improve the accuracy, availability, granularity and coverage of our data, and those that implement new data management and manipulation tools
You will analyse the right information, sorts complex issues, Seek out diverse ideas to develop creative approaches to solve problems
What we're looking for:
Expertise in Spark, Spark ETL pipelines and Spark ML pipelines, in the development of configurable solutions and the use of Parquet/ORC storage
Exceptional programming skills in Scala (essential) and Python
Previous experience in the use of continuous integration/development tools, i.e. GIT, Maven/Gradle/SBT, Jenkins (Jenkinsfile/Groovy)
Ability to understand and translate the pattern recognition, exploration of the data, machine learning and algorithmic learning
Skills that will help you in the role:
Preferable knowledge of AWS tools (Athena, SageMaker, EMR, S3)
Experienced in creating business models, both financial and consumer behavioral
Extensive experience of statistical analysis, data mining and visualisation techniques
