The Head of Engineering & Architect presides over the entire Frontend and Backend development teams, reporting directly to the Platform Lead. The candidate leads the development teams and collaborates with finance functions to roll out end to end applications and implement ongoing process improvements of the current systems. The Head of Engineering keeps up with new technologies and identifies correct schema for the sites/software in development. This leader has a strong vision for the department and promotes the best organizational patterns and practices. He tackles high-level challenges and balances quality software with speed. He is responsible for feature deployment, stability of the finance's core platform stability, and the overall quality of the finance's architecture. Responsibilities: Supervisory/Leadership Role: The Head of Engineering & Architect plays a leadership role in the engineering department where he seeks excellence in all engineering disciplines inclusive of data processing, quality assurance, application development, analytics, machine learning, algorithms, and data warehousing. In this position, the Head of Engineering & Architect manages the day-to-day activities of the engineering teams as well as the management and execution of software development projects against delivery commitments and project plans. The Head of Engineering is also in charge of the management of the department's staffing, resources, and mentoring, and maintaining a best-in-class engineering department. The Head of Engineering leads the engineering team in the delivery of platform functionality through a mix of development software and helps the team in achieving and surpassing departmental goals. He provides technical guidance and direction, as well as hands-on resource and project management, for all software development activities. Drive architecture alignment across Finance functions (vertical and horizontal). Provide thought leadership in the application of Data Analytics across the department through the sharing and influence of ideas on data analytics capabilities, practices and trends for company and business opportunities Champion as a change agent and drive innovation for best-in-class Finance digital transformation Strategy: In this capacity, the Head of Engineering & Architect develops strategic plans with regard to the technical development of software and establishes the business's technical vision that guides all aspects of technological development. He/she is responsible for the overall system development life-cycle. Strong advocate of product thinking into all solutioning Keep abreast of organisational and market developments, trends and practices to establish the annual audit priorities. Participate actively in industry peer groups and forums for network and updated knowledge of industry related trends Drive adoption of new capabilities, data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning to adapt to changing business requirements, increase efficiencies and competencies Collaboration and Support: The role of the Head of Engineering & Architect is also a highly collaborative one. The Head of Engineering will work closely with senior engineering teams in the management and development of strategic planning. He will also work closely with the users to develop best-in-class user experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable technologies that will lead to increased users satisfaction. The Head of Engineering & Architect also works with senior engineering & technology management within DBS in ensuring that systems meet the overall business requirements and standards. Collaborate and engage with technical leaders, functional leaders, business partners and Finance Management regionally to drive best in class solutioning for long-term vision, strategic deliveries Maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders Continuously engage, motivate and drive people and organizational agenda within team
At least 15 years of experience proven work experience as a Development/Engineering/Architect lead
Proven leadership in delivering frameworks at enterprise level
Ability to act as in a consultative manner with both business and IT leaders to align strategy
In-depth knowledge of major application development frameworks / tools including maven, gradle, Spring, Spring Boot, ASP.NET
Deep understanding of application, infrastructure and security architecture and non-functional aspects like performance, scalability, reliability and availability
Deep knowledge and experience in Cloud Native/ API / Micro-services, Agile / Dev-Ops, CI / CD technologies and best practises
Knowledge of software engineering best practices
Experience with Data Science / scripting / programming tools, including but not limited to Python, R or SQL
Experience working in Agile Methodologies
Good knowledge of web development standards, database technologies
Good Knowledge and exposure to UI frameworks
Active participation in Industry & Technology forums would be a plus.

Strong Problem-Solving skills and ability to solve unstructured problem and challenge status quo
Capable to handle multiple concurrent initiatives
Experience in implementing, integration and/or maintaining suites of systems
