Position Summary and Essential Functions
This position will support the private market investing strategies and be responsible for accounting, financial analysis, reporting, and day-to-day support of its clients, known as limited partners ("LPs").
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop a strong understanding of the private investing platform including complex legal entity structures
Develop a strong understanding of the mechanics behind each fund offering including fee structures, calculations, and imputed results
Act as the lead and the primary point of contact for day-to-day limited partner and prospective limited partner queries
Design and prepare detailed financial analysis including bespoke data requests
Design, build, and maintain online data rooms for prospective fund launches
Fulfill data requests from regulatory authorities including the SEC, South Africa Financial Services Board, and limited partner-related auditors
Prepare financial reports for fund-related Advisory Committees
Prepare and coordinate responses for due diligence questionnaires
Understand and ensure adherence to the specific limited partner arrangements including Most Favored Nations clauses and side letter agreements
Utilize an outsourced fund administration accounting team, managing closely the team's outputs, and ensuring adherence to its contract
Through the fund administration accounting team, maintain books and records of all fund structures and related legal entities including foreign entities and general partner entities
Prepare and evaluate capital calls and distributions
Prepare and serve as team lead for the annual US GAAP audit work
Work closely with tax preparers on annual tax returns and filings
Handle ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
At least 7-9 years of Accounting experience; CPA preferred
Strong consideration to private markets investment industry experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate and explain complex matters to varied backgrounds of expertise
Financial analysis or analytical experience including the ability to accurately analyze financial documents, create financial analysis responses, and understand the flow of funds in legal structures
Ability to accurately analyze and apply US GAAP, income tax basis and cash basis financial reports
Experience in designing and implementing process improvements and internal control best practices
Expert knowledge of Excel and Accounting Systems and experience with Performance based measurement
Highly self-motivated with a positive, "can-do" attitude and ability to successfully collaborate with team members
Ability to work successfully in a dynamic, constantly changing environment with the skills necessary to appropriately prioritize workload while handling multiple ongoing projects and deadlines
