Location: London Grade: 9/10 (for internal purposes only) The Role: You will create content including in-depth analysis/features, breaking news and digital media such as blogs, podcasts and videos on the markets for battery metals and minerals. As well as supporting metals benchmarks closely linked to energy transition, such as lithium and cobalt, the beat will focus on the use of copper, nickel, aluminum, graphite, vanadium and others in manufacture of batteries and infrastructure in the transport, renewable energy and energy storage sectors. You will work with the pricing and analytics teams to develop original insightful content focused on these commodity areas, and support coverage of low carbon metals production, including the evolving markets for so-called green steel and aluminum. The Career Opportunity: This is an opportunity to contribute to Platts' expanding energy transition and ESG coverage. You will be in a position to create meaningful content, cover regional industry events, help on graphical content and collaborate with news and market reporters globally. The Team / The Business: The global metals news team works closely together in what can be a fast-paced environment. You'll report to an EMEA metals news head, but also work closely with the regional head of news and other Platts' reporters and editors worldwide. Responsibilities As a writer and editor, you will ensure that the news you file on supply and demand factors in the battery metals and minerals areas is timely, unique and relevant. This may include policy and legislative news and original interviews in the green metals space generally. Your coverage will highlight Platts' pricing benchmarks and analytics insights and may include elements of thought leadership. You will monitor news flow from competitors, prioritize daily content and help conduct forward planning of event and story coverage. You will be responsible for creating reader-friendly content and presenting it in a way that has maximum impact. You will be required to think innovatively on how best to present the content, for instance using infographics, maps, charts, tables etc. You will be required to collaborate with regional colleagues, market reporters and other members of the metals news team to generate and drive content. This could be in the form of analysis of developing news and/or writing features. You would be expected to develop and maintain productive relationships with a broad base of key industry sources.
