Group Legal, Compliance & Secretariat ensures that the bank's interests are protected by zealously guarding and enhancing its reputation and capital. Responsibilities
  • Partner strongly with internal stakeholders to provide practical and insightful legal and regulatory advice on a wide variety of matters relating to the Bank's consumer banking business, as well as all related functional groups.
  • Act as the independent guardian to safeguard the Bank's legal and regulatory interest with a sound risk management and control mindset.
  • Anticipate, evaluate and resolve regulatory issues (including disputes, complaints, regulatory breaches) in a timely and practical matter, including liaising with regulators and relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections involving the consumer banking business.
  • Understand business and operational aspects of relevant internal stakeholders and assist with launching new business initiatives, products and projects.
  • Review the impact of new regulations and provide feedback and implications on the proposed regulations to the consumer banking business.
  • Develop, implement, improve and review business and operational processes and occasionally provide training for our business partners.
  • Maintain proactive regulatory relationships with financial regulators. Where necessary, also manage and develop productive and efficient relationships with external counsel.
Requirements
  • At least 7 years relevant experience in a regulatory function in a financial institution.
  • Detailed understanding of the key regulations relevant to the consumer banking business.
  • Candidate should possess good communication skills with ability to clearly articulate issues, solutions. Candidate is expected to think critically and should possess good problem-solving skills and a results-oriented approach.
  • This position requires a motivated team player with internal stakeholders focus and responsiveness. Good communication skills are essential.
  • Candidate will be expected to be a self-starter,and must be prepared to take on leadership roles.
  • Candidate should have an attitude and mindset that embraces challenges and a desire to make a difference. He/she should also have a keen inclination in learning about digital trends, as well as responsible banking.
  • In addition, he/she must be willing to learn commercial and operational aspects of the internal stakeholder's business, and be able to tailor sound and practical advice accordingly.
