The Global Head of Network Engineering is responsible for driving and implementing State Street's Networks of the future, defining and implementing standards, as well as working closely with peer organizations to deliver our data center and cloud strategy. The role will also have oversight of all network associated vendor outsourcing agreements and budget management. Ideally, the candidate will have experience working as a leader in cross-functional teams as s/he will act as a catalyst for team building. The ideal candidate will manage the team delivering network infrastructure capabilities, with accountability for service delivery and design approaches to achieve required service levels. The candidate should possess strong organization and troubleshooting skills and be able to effectively manage their time to meet company objectives.
Engineer and deploy scalable solutions for global networks (Data Center, Campus, Collaboration, Security, Network Applications)
Identify, research, evaluate and implement emerging network technologies
Evolve the network to enable State Street's cloud strategy
Familiarity with scripting languages (python, go), common configuration management tools and API based automation is a plus
Lead the team responsible for configuration, installation and maintenance, in-depth troubleshooting tasks and documentation of any network issues.
Collaborate with our IT Vendor Management and Global Procurement teams on vendor relationships and key contract requirements
Manage vendor relationships and key milestones for Infrastructure on-time delivery, Drive metric driven quarterly business vendor reviews
Report on key metrics for Infrastructure products: Service Delivery performance, Vendor performance, Financial performance to budget
Monitor and improve Network Performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages, managing upgrade schedules and collaborating with vendors
Escalation of problems as appropriate to senior management.
Ability to analyze and design network systems to achieve efficient and secure operation
Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, including packet-level traffic analysis
Experience working in large enterprise networks is desired. The ability to work under pressure and interface with senior management will be key to this role
Through understanding of IP concepts including routing, VLAN's, QoS, tuning and capacity management concepts
Collaborate across cross-functional teams to synchronize deployment and project acceptance schedules
