Major, Lindsey & Africa has been retained by a Fortune 500 retailer to find a Vice President of Legal, Real Estate. A recognizable name in retail, our client has stores throughout North America and has an annual revenue of over $10 billion. This position is based in the Northeast region.

This role will manage real estate matters for the Company. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer and will be tasked with influencing and executing the business's real estate strategy. This role will manage a small team of in-house lawyers as well as outside counsel.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of in-house and national law firm experience; experience in the retail industry preferred.
• Strong real estate background and proven ability to manage and develop a team.
• Must be a team player and capable of working effectively with outside counsel.
• Ability to manage a large volume of lease transactions and landlord negotiations on an ongoing basis.
• An in-depth knowledge of general real estate legal matters and legal issues relating to the leasing, acquisition, and disposition of the commercial real estate.
• An innovator and leader that will take ownership of the legal real estate function to transform and modernize processes used by the real estate legal team and leverage technology tools to work smarter.
