Ratings Analyst - Insurance Ratings
Grade 9 (for internal purposes)

Location - London

The Role: As a Ratings Analyst, you will be supporting the credit evaluation of insurance companies in the UK. France and other locations in EMEA when needed. This position involves meetings with issuers and supporting senior insurance analysts.

The Impact: The position offers an exciting mix of responsibilities for someone with a keen interest in supporting the team in analyzing insurance companies, as well as opportunities to acquire and develop new skills. It offers interaction with S&P analysts in EMEA. Tasks include research duties, support of senior analysts with building the "credit story" on insurance companies and markets through insightful opinions and strong analysis.

Your Skills: Solid, demonstrable experience (2+ years) within insurance industry or credit analysis of non-life and life insurers within a financial services firm. Strong communication skills. Fluency in French or Italian would be a plus

Responsibilities:
  • Analyzing information and data for determining ratings on insurance companies and their debt issues
  • Supporting senior analysts in making recommendations and presenting to rating committees
  • Drafting press releases, company-specific reports, and industry commentaries.
  • Good understanding of S&P Global Ratings' methodology and procedures
  • Continuous monitoring of operating performance of rated companies, including reviews of public filings and private information supplied by issuers, and participation in client meetings
  • Meeting with issuers and investors on analytical matters with Senior analysts
  • Contributing to S&P Global Ratings' global and regional analytical sectoral publications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree. Actuarial background, accounting degree, or CFA qualification would be a plus
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an analytical position or experience in the insurance industry
  • Good understanding of financial and capital markets and the insurance sector
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) in English are essential. Fluency in French or Italian would be a plus
  • Strong ability to understand and analyze financial statements of insurance companies
  • A highly motivated team player who can work autonomously in a global, multi-cultural and fast pace environment
  • Ability to undertake rigorous analytical work and be proficient at writing analytical reports in English
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use programming languages a plus
