Our client has completed over £9bn worth of transactions and expects to continue to grow over the next few years. Given this continued growth our client is looking for a candidate with previous experience across commercial real estate lending and will be able to lead their risk control function with regard to credit issues. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Serve as primary credit risk control manager for the company's private lending business including credit analysis on proposed loans.
• Work with specific investment managers and be well integrated into the front office investment process, while supporting a strong risk culture.
• Execute independent review of all due diligence, cash flow forecasting, sensitivity and valuation analysis for new opportunities.
• Screen and provide challenge to the investment thesis, identifying key risks, and working collaboratively with the investment manager.
• Develop a credit risk framework for the company's private lending portfolio, including a robust methodology and resilience to regulatory enquiry. 
• Analyse private investments with regard to capital structures and leverage.
• Provide summaries of general macroeconomic credit and industry sector trends.
• Ensure proper agency ratings data sourcing for public securities portfolio.
• Serve as primary subject matter expert when dealing with regulators on credit ratings issues.
• Independent counterparty due diligence and approval recommendations for debt and equity investment proposals.
• Liaison with Investment, Legal, Compliance and Risk to ensure compliance with internal AML policy and lending regulatory requirements. 

The ideal candidate profile:

• At least 5 years of experience in credit analysis including commercial real estate.
• Experience working on a credit analysis team at a large bank, insurer or asset manager.
• Experience of working in a private credit risk team (first line) or in a credit risk management group (second line).
• Confident to stand up and express a contrary view if necessary.
• Extensive knowledge of ratings methodologies.
• Experience with commercial mortgage lending.
• Team approach – spirit of cooperation with investment colleagues.
• Broad understanding of general macroeconomic credit and industry sector trends.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to explain complex concepts in a straightforward manner.
• Ability to work under own initiative and show flexibility to meet business needs.
