We are looking for a highly-driven and motivated Legal Counsel to join our fun, professional and dedicated Finance Department based here in Hong Kong. The Finance team acts as a key contributor in managing foodpanda's financial performance and internal control, while it also provides financial, legal, data and procurement advisory to support our business growth. Know more about the team Our legal team acts as a legal business partner to proactively assess legal risks and help in moving the business forward. We strive to bring best-in-class legal practices and assisting with strategic business decisions at foodpanda Hong Kong. Roles and Responsibilities - Support the Hong Kong business verticals with legal advice on a broad range of operational and business matters spanning from regulatory, intellectual property, e-commerce, employment, privacy, competition, and technology issues.
- Advise, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts with third parties such as marketing partners, suppliers, and restaurants.
- Review products, features, and initiatives to provide practical business-driven legal advice while managing legal risk.
- Be a legal business partner in initiatives that influence all aspects of the business.
- Collaborate with our legal teams in Berlin HQ and the APAC region to ensure standardization and alignment on legal matters.
- Support continuous improvement of standard agreements and legal processes.
- Instruct and manage external advisors and counsel, as necessary.
Desired Skills and Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Law and called to the Hong Kong, Malaysia, or Singapore bar (or other commonwealth jurisdictions) Non-qualified candidates may be considered provided that he/she has substantial corporate commercial in house work experience.
- 3 to 8 years PQE, including at least 2 complete years of experience dealing with legal commercial matters at a leading law firm or in-house department at a platform, e-commerce, or internet technology company.
- Competition, privacy law and regulatory experience is preferred but not mandatory
- Strong legal knowledge, contract negotiations, writing, and drafting skills.
- Experience in fast-paced, entrepreneurial, start-up/technology environments with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English. In addition, the ability to communicate in Cantonese, and/or Mandarin languages would be required due to the geographical coverage of this role.
- Great interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience navigating stakeholders through highly ambiguous situations.
- Self-motivated, highly driven, team player, and a self-starter.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
