The Role Responsibilities
Ensure credit risk IRB, IFRS9 and Pillar 2 Stress Testing models developed for the measurement of PD, EAD and LGD in the Corporate, Institutional and Commercial (CIC) portfolios remains relevant and appropriate for regulatory capital calculation, and to continuously improve the models' accuracy and efficiency, while maintaining a strong engagement with the relevant internal and regulatory bodies responsible for their approval. Explore optimal modelling methodology within constraints of data, system, and others whilst meeting regulatory and business requirements.
Maintain and continue to upgrade the models based on model users and regulatory feedback and on-going model performance monitoring. Participate in industry studies and regulatory consultation where relevant.
Develop strong working relationship with key footprint countries as well as credit risk and business stakeholders. Ensure the model outputs are fit for purposes not only for regulatory capital and ECL estimates but also for daily business usage, underwriting decisions, risk appetite decisions and strategy design.
Assess the downstream impact of models to understand its network risk. Participate in relevant model implementation and its user acceptance test to ensure models are appropriately implemented not only within the direct system environment but also its relevant downstream environments. Help policy team to provide model usage guidance to users and address users' feedback.
People and Talent
Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations for team members and work in collaboration with all relevant partners. Retain key talents and develop staffs in both hard and soft skills.
Understand Model related uncertainty risk including data, regulatory, business strategy, market, competitive landscape, system, environment, and others to ensure model sponsors, owners and model approval committees make right decisions based on the understanding of associated risk.
Governance Keep abreast and address home and host regulatory changes relating to models. Liaise with regulators for the initial and ongoing certification of risk models for use in capital requirement calculations. Ensure modelling process and models meet Model Risk Policy and Model Family Standards so that they can be approved by delegated model approval committee and approval committee. Provide timely and high-quality responses to regulatory queries and requests.
Model Owner Responsibilities:
Represent the model users and ensure all the model use cases are considered within the model life cycle activities
Responsible for providing annual project plan covering known major projects and quarterly updates to address any plan changes
Responsible for taking the lead in developing the end-to-end model solution
Responsible for coordinating the submission of the model for validation, and submission of the approval package for consideration
Responsible for coordinating the model implementation, model performance monitoring and model decommission
Responsible for ensuring that appropriate model users are sufficiently engaged in the model use-test activities
Model Owners should ensure models perform as expected and are only used for their approved use cases. They must formally risk-accept and remediate where necessary for continuation of business

Our Ideal Candidate
Academic and professional background:
Substantial PD/EAD/LGD model development experience in the Corporate, Institutional, and Commercial book, providing a strong basis to lead and challenge teams of specialists.
Home and Host Regulatory Framework and Requirements: Awareness and thorough understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates
Good knowledge of banking risk management, a knowledge of Basel/CRR/EBA/IFRS 9.
Understanding of Corporate, Institutional, and Commercial portfolios and products will be ideal.
Strong people leadership to lead team and to influence stake holders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Analytical and independent thinker.
Excellent attention to detail and good time management.
Initiative, creativity and problem solving.
Very quick learner with strong interest in risk management credit modelling, analytics, Basel capital reporting and IFRS 9 financial reporting.
