Senior ESG Analyst, ESG Research
Grade 12 (for internal purposes)

We are currently looking for a Senior ESG Analyst to join our growing, dynamic ESG Research department - overseeing the project management and methodology of the SAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) and the creation of the iconic Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) and other indices such as the S&P 500® ESG index. The team is responsible for managing our proprietary database, comprising one of the world's most complete datasets on corporate sustainability. The data stored here is also used by investors, asset managers and in S&P Global's various divisions and products.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual who is passionate about sustainability and is committed to driving sustainable business practices through financial markets. Our department is project-focused and relies on our proprietary methodology and software to collect and assess corporate sustainability information. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing various key tasks related to the Corporate Sustainability Assessment, including the development of the CSA methodology and supporting daily management tasks.

As a team player, you will contribute to the unique culture and energy of the department as it continues to grow.
Your main tasks will include:
  • Managing key projects and operational processes related to the CSA
  • Responsibility for reviewing and managing key quality control processes, also in conjunction with annual audits
  • Development and maintenance of SAM's proprietary Corporate Sustainability Assessment Methodology (CSA), including responsibility for specific industries and topics
  • Monitoring and reviewing ongoing company controversies through Media & Stakeholder Analysis (MSA)
  • Research on upcoming global sustainability trends and industry-specific challenges
  • Supporting management in developing and supporting team members
  • Engagement with companies participating in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment through feedback calls, webcasts and management meetings
  • Project coordination with key internal and external stakeholders
Your qualifications:
  • A completed university degree
  • 6+ years of work experience in the field of ESG ratings or research, corporate sustainability or sustainability investing
  • Industry (preferably Health Care, Materials or Consumer Goods) or sustainability-topic specific experience or expertise
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • A sound understanding of global sustainability reporting frameworks and trends
  • Good understanding of financial markets and investment products
  • Strong analytical skills and an acute attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of MS Excel and other IT tools
  • Excellent written and spoken English
